Drake may have missed out on a Grammy, but his songwriting talents will not go unrewarded. The hip-hop laureate will receive the prestigious Hal David Starlight Award at the 42nd Annual Songwriters Hall of Fame gala.

The Young Money rapper will be honored for making a significant impact to the music industry through his original songs at an induction and awards dinner to be held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City on June 16.

“Drake is one of music’s brightest new stars lauded for his songwriting prowess, melodious hooks, and emotionally transparent performances,” read the press release. “[His] skill of commanding a diverse audience through composition solidifies his position in the pantheon of great songwriters of this generation.”

Songwriters Hall of Fame Chairman and legendary songwriter Jimmy Webb added, “Drake shines as a talented songwriter with a unique vision and we are pleased to honor him with the prestigious Hal David Starlight Award.”
