While we have a great deal of love for a number of divas out there, we have to admit that few of them manage to keep it as classy as Alicia Keys. The woman who took loving New York to a whole new level brought her gorgeous self to the pages of W, practically oozing the sophistication we’ve come to expect from this Songs In A Minor singer. We assume husband Swizz Beatz is out having these framed right now.

Following the birth of her son last fall, Alicia Keys was welcomed back to her second home—the stage—at the Hope Rising! concert benefitting the Stephen Lewis Foundation at Toronto’s Sony Centre on Tuesday (May 3). The Grammy-winning vocalist, along with K’naan, Rufus Wainwright, Angélique Kidjo, and Holly Cole, lent their voices to help raise money and awareness for the fight against HIV/AIDS in Africa.

“If you can hear it, you can feel it, you can see it, then hope is rising everywhere we look,” said an inspired Alicia before singing her New York anthem “Empire State of Mind (Part II) Broken Down” and classic “Fallin’.”

Alicia is gearing up to perform at next month’s BET Awards and will release a special 10th Anniversary Deluxe and Collector’s edition of her debut songs in A minor on June 28.

Alicia Keys looks back on the beginning of her career in a promo for “The Beat Is On with HP” campaign. In the clip, the glowing songstress recalls recording her debut Songs in A Minor in her Harlem bedroom, turning her closet into a booth, and driving her fellow tenants nuts.

“You could imagine how we tortured the neighbors. They would bang on the ceiling with a broom come three or four in the morning and I’m sitting here singing passionately at the top of my voice,” she said. “I really feel like a lot of that is the reason why that album has the particular feeling that it does, because we didn’t have anything. Sometimes, when you don’t have much, you make the best out of what you have and it makes a vibe and an energy.”

Singer-and-songwriter Bruno Mars got the second most nominations when they were announced last night with seven, while Lady Gaga, rapper Jay-Z and country act Lady Antebellum all scored six.

Bruno -- who, among his nominations, is up for Best Male Pop Vocal for his hit "Just the Way You Are" -- said: "It's just been a great year, incredible, incredible year, and I can't believe this is happening to me.

"We've worked so hard trying to make a living doing music and the fact that we're here right now is incredible, incredible."

Another track co-written by Bruno -- Cee Lo Green’s "F**k You" -- was nominated for both Record of the Year and Song of the Year, and Cee Lo said he never realized the track, which was edited to "Forget You" for the radio, would be such a hit.

He said: "It wasn't meant to be a radio song. It was meant to be something with flair and first impression and it really took on a life of its own, and I had no idea it would become what it is today."

In the Best Newcomer category, Justin Bieber found himself nominated alongside his fellow Canadian, rapper Drake.

He told LL Cool J -- who hosted the nominations show at Club Nokia in Los Angeles: “It feels amazing -- I can't believe I'm in this position! I don't know what to say!"

Among the performers at the nominations show were Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, rapper B.o.B and indie group Train.

The 53rd Grammy Awards will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 13, 2011.

Each ad has a scannable technology built-in allowing users to use their cell phone to donate money to help give life to millions of people affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India by providing medicine, food, and shelter.

These days, Alicia Keys is in a motherhood state of mind.

The singer and her husband, Swizz "Kaseem Dean" Beatz, "joyfully welcomed their first child, a son Egypt Daoud Dean on Oct. 14 in New York City," reps for the couple confirm in a statement to DIDNTINVITEME.

This is the couple's first child, though Egypt "is welcomed by Beatz's three other children," the statement adds.

Keys, 29, and Beatz, 32, are not only new parents together – they are also newlyweds. The singer and the rapper-producer got married in a private ceremony overlooking the Mediterranean Sea in July. At the time, the two didn't know the gender of their child, but Swizz Beatz said they were excited to start a family together.

"Whatever we're blessed with, that baby is being born to blessed parents," he told DIDNTINVITEME at the time. "Alicia is definitely one of those great parents-to-be. She's super ready. Super glowing. Super happy."

On Thursday night, he seemed to be in a reflective mood, Tweeting, "I'm so thankful for everything I been blessed with in my life."

Even the heavy New York City winds couldn’t dim the star power at Keep a Child Alive’s 7th Annual Black Ball at Hammerstein Ballroom on Thursday night (Sept. 30). The star-studded charity gala, which raised money for HIV/AIDS treatment, featured appearances and performances by Sade, Whitney Houston, Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Usher, Swizz Beatz, Jennifer Hudson, Janelle Monáe, and more.

The belle of the ball, host Alicia Keys, lived out her dream by singing with Sade. “It was the most difficult thing I ever had to do in my life, to try to pick one song,” revealed the pregnant songstress, who finally decided upon “Love Is Stronger Than Pride.” “I lost sleep over it actually.”

Janelle Monáe gained new fans with her “Tightrope” walking and Swizz Beatz joined Jay-Z for “On to the Next One,” as his pretty in pink wife looked on. Alicia helped Jay cap the evening in their hometown by channeling Frank Sinatra with an impromptu performance of “New York, New York,” before closing with “Empire State of Mind.”

Love was in the air as a smiling Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz disembarked a helicopter at the West Side Heliport in New York City on Monday (Sept. 6). The Grammy-winning songstress was radiant in a floor-length yellow dress that showed off her growing baby bump, while Swizzy kicked it in white sneakers and a white tee.

While the super-producer may be willing to speak about their relationship, Alicia still prefers to keep some things private. The wifey prevented her husband from posting a video online of the two jamming to some old school hip-hop. “Sorry the queen said no post tonight :)sorry next time…..,” tweeted an obedient Swizz. Guess we know who wears the pants in this relationship.
