Kelis rattled her fashionable bones at the Lovebox festival in London’s Victoria Park over the weekend. The dance diva wore a shimmery black skeleton outfit and showy headpiece on Day 3 of the music extravaganza, where she performed songs including “Trick Me” and “Brave.” She had to change outfits at the last moment due to the unexpected weather. “This weather is unreal, the lovebox vision I was planning on wearing may have to stay caged up in my suitcase. This is no bueno,” she wrote.

We say Kelis gives a little bounce to “Bounce,” because, well, she’s barely in the music video. Still, as we know, the Flesh Tone diva’s vocals dominate Calvin Harris’ peppy new dance track. Head below to watch the Vincent Haycock-directed clip.

Kelis has been lending her voice out to various “featured” appearances over the past year. Most recently she turned up of Duran Duran’s All You Need Is Now track “The Man Who Stole A Leopard.”

Anyway, here in Calvin’s video, Kelis appears briefly in a limo and then gives some short face time while dancing in the desert on the outskirts of Las Vegas. Meanwhile, the majority of the clip focuses on a guy who breaks up with his girlfriend, then aimlessly wanders around Sin City with his friends for the day. He eventually ends up at a party Calvin Harris is DJ-ing at and proceeds to hook up with several frisky females.

Kelis continues her foray into fashion, with it today being announced that she has signed to London’s Next Models – one of the most renowned agencies in the industry.

London, United Kingdom (22nd October, 2010) – Interscope Recording Artist Kelis and Next Models have today confirmed they have exclusively signed the singer to their Special Bookings department of Next Models London.


The deal signifies a further move for Kelis into the fashion world where she is currently seen as a fashion icon, known for being ahead of the curve and being fearless with her style. Kelis is embraced and loved by some of the biggest and coolest designers around the world, signing with Next is a natural progession.


Melanie Maw, Head of Branding at AAB, Kelis’ branding agents who secured the deal with Next, said, “Kelis has established herself as a fashion icon, alongside an amazing music career and it’s fantastic that in Next Models we have found an internationally like minded agency that understands and believes in her vision. This partnership will continue to push her to the forefront of fashion. Other agencies came forward but with Next we felt it was a natural fit and we are thrilled.”

Kelis works up a sweat in the neon video for “Scream,” the David Guetta-produced single off her dance-minded album Flesh Tone. Running on a treadmill in slow motion during the song’s slower moments, the fashionista rocks an assortment of wild hats and spazzes out when the track gets bumping, dancing in the dark as black lights reflect off her day-glo body paint. Kelis doesn't mind being a single mom at all. In fact, she says it's "awesome." The "Milkshake" singer, who has a 13-month-old son Knight with her ex-husband Nas, isn't interested in people's sympathy over her divorce.

Wishing you could step into someone else’s shoes for a bit? AOL’s blog The Boombox posted a video clip this afternoon that highlights a full day of Kelis as she hits the promo trail to get the word out about her latest album Flesh Tone. The singer hits up a couple Sirius XM radio shows, a dinner party to celebrate her album release and NYC nightclub Splash, where she hands out copies of the CD to partygoers. Watch below.

Kelis was over in England for the 4th of July, but that didn't stop her from firing up the grill and celebrating the USA's birthday. The R&B star apparently went out and bought some barbecues, and then lit 'em up backstage at her concert.

A source said: “Kelis was cooking up a storm backstage. The smell of the steaks on the BBQ was mouth watering. Perhaps Channel 4 should give her a cooking show of her own!”

A host of other artists and backstage fans joined Kelis, whose new single "4th Of July (Fireworks)"  is out today, for the food until concerned fire wardens put a halt to the impromptu barbecue after seeing the smoke.

Other acts to perform at T4 On The Beach included Dizee Rascal and Alexandra Burke.

Kelis, wearing a rainbow-colored outfit, brightened up the morning by performing her latest single “4th of July (Fireworks)” on the “Today” show. She also discussed how motherhood has influenced her music. Her new album Flesh Tone was released today in the U.S.

Kelis took flight with her performance on Friday’s “Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” singing her new single “4th of July (Fireworks)” backed by a drummer and three DJs, including DJ Rashida and the song’s producer DJ Ammo. She wore a royal blue gown with real butterflies in her hair! “N no peta I did not kill them! Lol morons,” she tweeted.

Kelis gets wet in the video for her explosive new single “4th of July(Fireworks),” produced by DJ Ammo. The clip, which was shot in the desert just outside of Los Angeles, was co-directed by Kelis, Rankin, and Nicole Ehrlich, and premieres June 16 on VEVO.

The fashionista will perform the song for the first time on U.S. television on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on June 18, before her album Flesh Tone drops stateside on July 6. Her “All Hearts” tour with pop singer Robyn kicks off July 23 in Los Angeles.

Nas’ ex-wife, R&B singer Kelis, was spotted in London wearing a Givenchy Gold Studded leather jacket ($2,176) from the Resort 2010 womenswear collection. The jacket features black leather embellished with gold toned round ball studs. For the outing, Kelis carried a Spring/Summer 2010 collection Vivienne Westwood Heart Shaped 4863 Ebury black bag (approx. $888), which was made from leather and has a large gold toned orb on the front. She was also rocking a pair of Fall 2009 collection Adidas by Jeremy Scott Mickey Mouse sneakers (about $300).

Rihanna and Lady Gaga have taken the fashion world by storm with their bold sense of style, but before them was Kelis. While the “Bossy” singer’s influence on today’s female pop stars remains a hot topic of conversation, Kelis is sounding off to Rap-Up.com about her impact on music’s leading ladies.


When asked whether she had heard the Internet chatter comparing her style to that of Rihanna and Lady Gaga’s, Kelis responded, “Yeah. I tried not to see, but it’s noticeable.”

Although it may ruffle her fans’ feathers, the “Acapella” songstress says she’s flattered by the comparisons and attributes the similarities to her peers’ ages. “They’re really young. What else are they supposed to do?”

Kelis explains that this is not the first time an artist has been accused of “swagger jacking.” Borrowing fashion and recycling trends has occurred many times before her. “I’ve been around for a long time and that’s what artists do; we take from each other and we recycle,” she states. “And quite frankly, it may not even be them. It might be stylists that have been around as long as I have and are like, ‘Hey, let’s recycle this on these younger artists.’”

But she shrugs off the controversy. “I’m not offended by it. I don’t really have much feeling about it, honestly. It just keeps me on my toes and allows me to continue moving forward, so it’s cool. I really don’t see it as a bad thing. I guess it means I’m on the right track.”

While she has no beef with her fellow fashionistas, you won’t find her listening to their music on her iPod. “I can’t say that I do. I’m familiar with it, like I know it. I don’t live in a hole. If I’m at a party and they play it, I enjoy it. I get it.”

Kelis danced to the beat of her own drum while performing “Acapella” for the first time on television. Her label boss will.i.am DJed for the singer, who rocked a tribal ensemble and was flanked by taxidermy wolves on Tuesday’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

After a nearly four-year absence, Kelis awakens our senses with the visually striking video for “Acapella,” the first single from her fifth studio album Flesh Tone, arriving in the U.S. this June. Kelis brought her milkshake to Eva Longoria Parker’s nightclub Eve in Las Vegas on Friday night (Feb. 26). The singer was surrounded by bubbles as she gave clubgoers a taste of her sweet single “Acapella” from her forthcoming album Flesh Tone.

Knight’s mother recently shot the video for the first offering from her fifth studio effort with directors Rankin and Chris Cottam in Los Angeles. Rankin also photographed the album’s packaging. Flesh Tone is set for a May release.

Kelis took the night off from being a mom to perform at the Film Lounge during the 2010 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, on Friday (Jan. 22). The New Yorker was in an “Empire State of Mind,” dressed in a Statue of Liberty-inspired getup. The singer, whose new album Fleshtones is due this spring, was all smiles as she danced and sipped from a giant glass of Stella Artois.

Kelis is unpredictable. While many fans would love to hear a musical reunion between her and The Neptunes, the eclectic songstress surprised the masses when she chose to make her new label home at Interscope Records with the will.i.am Music Group.


Though she won’t mention any names, Kelis admits that a slew of record labels were bidding for the right to release her fifth effort, Fleshtones. “There were definitely people that were interested in signing me before [choosing will.i.am's label],” she discloses to Rap-Up.com. “I played it for a few of the key labels that I liked that I thought would understand a record like this.”

The 30-year-old mother of one is no stranger to creating records with the Black Eyed Peas frontman. Back in 2006, will.i.am produced several tracks on her fourth album, Kelis Was Here, including “What’s That Right There” and “Till the Wheels Fall Off.” “I’ve worked with will before and I love him,” shares Kelis. “I love [Interscope chairman] Jimmy [Iovine]. It was a good marriage.”

There is one question that remains: Why choose will.i.am when other labels were fighting to make her their newest signee? “I think that he’s brilliant,” Kelis says of the producer who’s worked with everyone from Michael Jackson to Rihanna. “As far as this generation goes, there’s not a single song that you can bring up to him or a reference or an artist or an era of music that he is not privy to or that he doesn’t understand.”

While she’s confidant in will.i.am’s vast knowledge, Kelis enjoys the fact that he’s not a bore. “He’s like a musical encyclopedia,” she reveals. “It makes it fun. He’s not afraid to push the limits and kinda go further than everyone else and that’s exciting. He still seems to be having fun doing it and that’s what it’s all about.”
