Music and fashion collided at BET’s “Rip the Runway” 2011. Models strutted down the catwalk in clothing by designers Rachel Roy, LaQuan Smith, Tennille White, Lila Nikole, Man vs. Machine, and more as hip-hop and R&B’s superstars provided the sexy soundtrack.

In honor of Black History Month, Melanie Fiona has decided to pay homage to one of her favorite artists, Sam Cooke, by covering his record “I Belong to Your Heart.” The sultry songstress released a video of her acapella performance, which she explains means more to her than just a song.

“It’s Black History Month and I felt that it was important to tribute one of my favorite black artists,” she explained. “And for those of you who are familiar with my influences and what I love and who I love, Sam Cooke is the man. Sam is the man. […] My dad used to sing this for my mom as he played on the guitar. You’d better still sing this song for mom!”

The stage at ABC’s “Good Morning America” was a bit overcrowded this morning when John Legend and The Roots performed “Wake Up Everybody” for the Fall Concert Series. With Legend perched behind the piano and Black Thought on the mic, Melanie Fiona and Common joined the crew to give a soulful rendition of their cover of Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes’ original tune, the lead single off the newly released Wake Up!
