Tracy Morgan will be noticeably absent from at least two episodes of 30 Rock in March.

According to EW, the actor, 42, is recovering from a kidney transplant he underwent on Dec. 10.

Tina Fey and the other writers of the hit comedy reportedly plan to address Morgan’s absence on the show by saying he has some sort of a meltdown because of a good thing that’s happened to him.

Morgan, who has diabetes, is said to be recovering from the surgery nicely. He was recently spotted at a New York Knicks basketball game.

His costar, Grizz Champan, also underwent the same transplant earlier this year.

The 68-year-old star’s family has refused to discuss her prognosis, except to say she is doing “OK,” but one unnamed relative -- who confirmed she has cancer but refused to say which type -- told Detroit’s WJBK Fox 2 radio station those close to her a “very concerned.”

Last month Aretha canceled all her concerts until May for “medical reasons.”

Until late October she had been recording and touring, but last week released a statement saying she had undergone “highly successful” surgery.

The Rev Jesse Jackson, who has visited the singer in hospital, said: “She is recovering and her spirits are high.

“She's conscious, communicating and taking daily walks up and down the hall.”

Aretha was born in Memphis, Tennessee in 1942 and grew up in Michigan, where she started singing in her local church as a young girl.

The star, whose hits include ‘Say A Little Prayer,’ has won 20 Grammy Awards and had 20 number one hits in the Billboard top 100 music charts.

Days after she underwent surgery, Aretha Franklin got a special visitor: Rev. Jesse Jackson.

Jackson told The Detroit News that the singer is "recovering" and in high spirits. He did not say what Franklin, 68, is ailing from.

"She's doing very well. She's very prayerful. She's a woman full of deep religious faith," he added.

Although her rep has not revealed what kind of surgery Franklin had, the procedure has been described as "highly successful.

"I had superb doctors and nurses whom were blessed by all the prayers of the city and the country," the singer said on Thursday.

Kim Kardashian might be laying off the high heels for a while -- she's nursing a broken toe! The reality star tweeted that she bailed in her hotel room and has been eating chocolate to make her feel better.

Even after a night’s sleep Kim’s toe is still hurting her but is on the mend. She added in another tweet: “Woke up today with my toe an unusual shade of purple! At least it feels better!”

Hotel staff have been trying to cheer her up by feeding her up with chocolate. In other posts she wrote: “Thank you hotel staff for the little chocolate snack on my pillow! Turn down service is everything! Sometimes milk chocolate makes everything better!”

Meanwhile, Kim is launching a pop career. The 30-year-old beauty has been in the studio with The Dream to work on some tracks in New York City. A source said: “They're working on some fun music.”

U2 frontman Bono has been hospitalized after having surgery, the band said in a message posted online Friday.

"Bono has today undergone emergency back surgery for an injury sustained during tour preparation training," reads the message on U2.com. "He was admitted to a specialist neurosurgery unit in a Munich hospital, and is under the care of neurosurgeon Prof. Dr. Jorg Tonn and Dr. Muller Wohlfahrt. Bono will spend the next few days there, before returning home to recuperate."

It's unclear how the band’s tour will be affected by Bono's injury. "Once his condition has been assessed further, a statement will be made regarding the impact on forthcoming tour dates," says the message. 


U2 is scheduled to perform in Salt Lake City, Utah, on June 3 as part of their 360 Tour, then continue performing in North American before heading back to Europe in August for more shows. 

Poor Bret Michaels. Just as he was recovering from a brain hemorrhage, the rocker and reality TV star was sent back to the hospital after suffering a minor "warning stroke," and when he got there, doctors also noticed he had a hole in his heart.

His rep said, "As far as I know, Bret will be there unless his doctors tell him otherwise."

If it's up to the doctors, it's still unclear whether he'll be strong enough to appear on the show. Neurosurgeon Dr. Joseph Zabramski said, "Without a doubt he is very determined to get healthy and make a 100 percent recovery. Medically speaking it is a fantastic attitude both mentally and physically for him to have.

"However, Bret's brain and body are not quite 100 percent yet, especially with the hole found in his heart."

Time isn't healing all wounds, as evidenced by Morgan Freeman's left hand, which has been paralyzed since he was injured in a car accident a year-and-a-half ago, he tells PEOPLE.

The Oscar-winning star, again nominated this year as Best Actor for playing Nelson Mandela in Invictus, says he's never fully healed after the August 2008 crash.

"I suffered nerve damage and it hasn't gotten better. I can't move it,” Freeman, 72, said at Wednesday's Los Angeles County Museum of Art premiere of The Eastwood Factor, a documentary about the storied career of Freeman's friend and frequent director, Clint Eastwood. (The featurette is part of the 19-disc Warner Home Video collection, Clint Eastwood: 35 Films 35 Years at Warner Bros., which was released Tuesday.)

"If you don't move your hand, it will swell up," Freeman said. "Do you know you move your hand about a million times a day?"

Dexter actor Michael C. Hall revealed Wednesday he has been battling cancer, but said he’s almost finished with treatment and the disease is in remission.

Hall, 38, said in a statement he is lucky to have been diagnosed with the “treatable and curable condition” – Hodgkin’s lymphoma – and thanked his Los Angeles-area medical team for their skill in caring for him.

His spokesman, Craig Bankey, said Hall’s cancer is in remission but the actor will continue scheduled treatments.

Hall plans to go with his wife – and Dexter costar – Jennifer Carpenter to Sunday’s Golden Globes, where he's nominated for best dramatic actor and the show as best drama. He also plans to attend the Screen Actors Guild Awards the following Saturday, where Hall and the cast are also nominated. 

Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler has entered a rehab facility for pain management and an addiction to prescription painkillers resulting from 10 years of performance injuries, DIDNTINVITEME has learned.

"With the help of my family and team of medical professionals, I am taking responsibility for the management of my pain and am eager to be back on the stage and in the recording studio with my bandmates Joe Perry, Joey Kramer, Tom Hamilton and Brad Whitford," Tyler says in a statement released to DIDNTINVITEME.

"I love Aerosmith; I love performing as the lead singer in Aerosmith," he adds. "I am grateful for all of the support and love I am receiving and am committed to getting things taken care of."

His daughter, Liv Tyler says, "My family and I are in complete support of my dad's decision to seek treatment. He is a courageous man. We love him and are so proud that he is getting help to balance his pain management, not just for himself but for his family, friends and fans."

A Decade of Injuries

Tyler, 61, has suffered orthopedic injuries over the past decade that have left him with "severe chronic pain" and will require additional surgeries on his knees and feet, says his physician, Dr. Brian McKeon, Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopedics at Tufts School of Medicine.

"Managing and controlling his pain has been challenging, and despite our use of alternative therapies and the creation of custom shoes built by a team of engineers from Timberland, Steven's pain has progressed," says McKeon, who also is team doctor for the Boston Celtics. "The balance between managing his pain and avoiding addiction is tenuous and difficult and his bravery in persevering through rigorous touring is admirable. As with many athletes, Steven put his performance first as he struggled with acute pain for years."

Tyler's bandmates candidly expressed concern for his well-being – and the future of Aerosmith – after he fell off a stage during a concert in August, breaking his shoulder.

"I think that he needs help and that attention needs to be put to his health," drummer Kramer told DIDNTINVITEME, adding the singer, who had battled drug addiction in the '70s and 80s, had "isolated himself."

Although back from the hospital, Nicole Richie says she's still laid up at home after a bout with pneumonia.

"Right now it's important for me to stay in bed and recover," Richie, 28, wrote on her blog Tuesday. "Reading all of your messages on Twitter and my website has really brightened my spirits and I am so grateful for the support. I look forward to seeing you all very soon and wish you a happy Thanksgiving."

She apologized for missing promotional appearances, saying she was disappointed at not being able to see her business partners and fans, but says, "I’d like to thank you all for the kind words and well wishes over the past few weeks."

The Backstreet Boys have cancelled several promotional appearances in New York after member Brian Littrell has been diagnosed with swine flu, the band said in a statement Monday.

The singer and his bandmates, Nick Carter, Howie Dorough and AJ McLean, and touring crew were prescribed Tamiflu as a preventative measure while Littrell, 34, recovers.


The group was scheduled to appear at New York's Hard Rock Café on Monday for the NYC PINKTOBER event. The Backstreet Boys, who are due to release their seventh album, This Is Us, on Tuesday, were also scheduled to perform their new single "Straight Through My Heart" on CBS's The Early Show that same day.

"We were really looking forward to spending time with our closest fans and friends in NYC and take part of PINKTOBER, an unbelievable and important program" Littrell says in a statement. "I hope we can come back soon and do everything we can to help."

No other details about the Backstreet Boys' promotional schedule were available.
