Lil Mama Sheds Tears On The Radio, Discusses Her Issues With Nicki Minaj
0 comments Posted by J.R. Taylor at 3:43 AM
Yesterday Lil Mama stopped by Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club in New York to chat with host Charlamagne, and got unexpectedly emotional during the interview, going so far as to shed a few tears. What made the “NY NY LA LA” rapper break down? No, it wasn’t because anyone accused her lip gloss of not being cool or poppin’ — it was in response to being told that she didn’t seem focused on music anymore, coupled with rising grief about her mother succumbing to cancer. Head below to watch Lil Mama go “On & On & On” about her music, promoting her career, and her beef with Nicki Minaj. (Tears flow near the 20-minute mark.)
Yeah, The Breakfast Club sometimes makes us cry, too — but we’re talking about the John Hughes movie.

Lil Mama’s Lip Gloss Pops Once Again In New Song “On & On & On”

There are plenty of songs out there about all sorts of silly little topics, but Lil Mama’s “Lip Gloss” still stands out as one of the catchiest ditties about pretty much the most trivial thing an artist could possibly sing about. Now the America’s Best Dance Crew judge has returned to the hip-hop scene with a new song, “On & On & On.” Hear it below, and watch a featurette that takes us behind the scenes with Lil Mama recording the track. Shout out to Tyren Redd for the Photo!
The 21-year-old rapper has aged a bit since her days of singing about lip gloss, but still manages to have fun, dropping in references to Kit Kat bars and an homage to the Notorious B.I.G.’s “Hypnotize.”
This track has a lot of the fun flavor that made “Lip Gloss” a big hit, and suggests that Lil Mama may not end up being a one-hit wonder after all if there’s more like this on the way.
