Tyler Perry can soon add yet another feat to his list of accomplishments: island owner!

When the movie mogul turns the big 4-0 this September, he plans to join the ranks of David Copperfield and Mel Gibson with the purchase of the ultimate getaway.

"I'm a loner by nature, so when I'm out there on these islands, I just feel like the only person in the world," says Perry, whose latest film, Madea Goes to Jail, grossed a whopping $41 million its opening weekend.

After recently spending a week vacationing on a private island in the Great Exumas in the Bahamas, he admits it's not all relaxation: "Renting an island is the best place for me to work uninterrupted."

What will he call his own private isle? "It won't be Tyler Perry's Island!" he laughs. "I'm so sick of seeing Tyler Perry all over everywhere!"

Instead, he'll wait until he's inspired by the exotic locale, which he hasn't quite decided on yet. "It'll speak to me," he says. "I'll know what to call it once I'm there."

But he will put one rule into full effect: "There will be no paparazzi on my island!" he declares.

According to my friends over @ People Magazine Rihanna and Chris Brown are back together.

The pair have reunited almost three weeks after Brown, 19, allegedly battered the "Umbrella" singer on Feb. 8, a source tells PEOPLE.

"They're together again. They care for each other," says the source. The on-again couple are currently spending time together at one of Sean "Diddy" Combs's homes, on Miami Beach's Star Island.

Adds the source: "While Chris is reflective and saddened about what happened, he is really happy to be with the woman he loves."

In its latest issue, PEOPLE reports that Brown called Rihanna on her 21st birthday one week ago. "He called to wish her happy birthday," a source told the magazine. "They've reached out to each other. It's been mutual."

Brown was booked by LAPD for making criminal threats but the case has not yet been presented to the District Attorney, who will ultimately determine which charges, if any, will be prosecuted.

On Friday's live episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show, the singer said that she's happy to return to performing, and that singing at huge events such as the Super Bowl is "like therapy" for her.

"[I'm] in a very good place," the Oscar- and Grammy-winner, 27, told Winfrey. "I'm just glad to be back to work."

The highlight of Hudson's Grammy night on Feb. 8? Being handed her statuette by Whitney Houston, she says. "[That] almost surpassed" winning the award for best R&B album itself, she said. "I used to create duets with Whitney and myself."

She said her awards are in the piano room of her house, which she shares with her three dogs, named Oscar, Grammy and Dreamgirl.

The former American Idol contestant also sang her latest single, "If This Isn't Love," for the audience, but avoided talking about the murders last fall of her mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew in Chicago.

When asked who is the real Beyonce, she tells the magazine:

“I’m a daughter, I’m a friend, I’m a wife, I’m a sister. All those things first. I’m artist. I’m a businesswoman. I’m multifaceted. I’m a lover. I’m inspired by love. I make decisions from the heart.”

When she makes decisions about what projects to do, her priority is not money but personal growth.“I turn down million dollar offers all the time because it’s something that does not feel true for what I’m trying to say. I have to be passionate about it. Love inspires and growth inspires me…If it is not going to be iconic, something I can love 10 years from now, I’ve learned I should not waste my time with it.”

She says her and Jay-Z stay out of each other’s business dealings.

“He was very successful before I met him and I was very successful before I met him. So we have so much respect for each other, and respect for each other artistically. We are very close friends, and I believe he is the ultimate artist and he has the same feelings for me.”

Asked to describe herself as a wife:

“I don’t know how to talk about it because I don’t like to talk about it. But I have a great example of a great wife, and that’s my mother. And I have great friends around me that have been married, so I’m lucky to have really good examples. And a great husband.”

She says they are just like any other couple. She is learning to cook and he’s getting over his single-guy habits.

One thing she does to get on his nerve: “I’m a little messy. Oh, yeah. Whenever I’m out in public, I have to be put together. When I get home, I rebel against it and I don’t want to take care of anything. I drop it. I’m relaxed. I don’t have any shoes on. No makeup. My purse is in the kitchen. I think that is most difficult thing for him. He’s very, very organized. I’m extremely organized when I’m working, and I work so much that when I get home I don’t want to think about anything.”

As for what Jay-Z does that get on her nerves: She laughs, “I won’t say.”

She said she doing charity work such as working with women and children through shelters and organizations. She says she is mentoring and counseling them.

Asked about a quote from years ago where she said she wanted to retire by age 21. She says she could have retired at that age but now she has no intention of ever retiring.

“I’ve worked so hard on my craft, and I will never stop. I will never retire. I love it way too much.”

Entertainment Weekly has released the lone pic from the sci-fi flick starring the Oscar winner.

The film, which is directed by the Hughes Brothers, is the story of a lone hero named Eli (Denzel Washington), who must fight his way across the wasteland of a near-future America to protect a sacred book that might hold the key to saving humankind.

Also starring in the film are Gary Oldman, Mila Kunis, Jennifer Beals, Ray Stevenson and Michael Gambon.

Oldman plays the despot of a small town who is willing to do anything to get a hold of Eli's book. Beals is playing Oldman's sexual prize and Kunis' mother, a blind woman doing anything she can to protect her child. Gambon will play one half of a strangle couple that holds on to old traditions in the futuristic tale.

'Eli' reunites Beals with Washington, with whom she starred in 1995's 'Devil in a Blue Dress.'

The Hughes brothers, who directed 'From Hell' with Johnny Depp, also directed the urban classic 'Menace II Society' with Larenz Tate and Jada Pinkett Smith and 'Dead Presidents' with Chris Tucker.

The film is slated to be released Jan. 15, 2010.

1 Week Till The Circus

Move over Barnum & Bailey -- Britney Spears is the new ringmaster in town, and her "Circus" tour is going to be more than light tricks and puffs of smoke!

The pop princess is going to be sawed in half and disappear into thin air -- and those are just two of the tricks Spears has up her sleeve for her upcoming tour, "The Circus Starring Britney Spears."

"Right away, she got into the boxes and into the magic contraptions to learn the stuff, and she's so excited about this tour and all the elements that are in it," illusionist-comedian Ed Alonzo dished to E! news. Alonzo has revealed that he will be performing onstage with Brit during her concerts, where the "Womanizer" singer will serve as the magician's assistant.

Ed continued, "We'll be doing a little dissection, transposition, a vanish, an appearance -- and if I do a trick, she doesn't just hold the props, she's actually getting inside the big boxes or I am slicing her up."

Alonzo also dished that Spears has a knack for magic! "I made [the tricks] really easy for her, but there are some complicated things that she is doing that you would think a contortionist would have to do, or a trained magician's assistant," he said, "but because she's a dancer, it really makes sense to put her in the magic, and it works and she's really, really good at it."

Britney will also perform some of her hits that helped her skyrocket to the top of the charts. Ed confessed that the show would feature "the best music of Britney that people have loved over the years and, of course, brand-new favorites from the new album."

"The Circus Starring Britney Spears" kicks off March 3 in New Orleans.

You know, I just don't think these folks get it.

Why is it when people use caricatures, cartoons and illustrations of things that are clearly construed as racially insensitive, they sheepishly grin and just say they "didn't mean it as anything racial"?

Like my grandmother used to say: "Sometimes I have to laugh to keep from crying."

The latest of these stupid illustrations is part of an e-mail sent out by Los Alamitos, Calif. Mayor Dean Grose that depicts the White House front lawn as a Watermelon patch. Keyanus Price, a local businesswoman received the e-mail and was appropriately offended.

Yeah,. Grose apologized to Price and everything's supposed to be smoothed over -- and of course you'll have the expected cavalcade of comments and bloggers who say blacks "need to get over it." But in my mind, we're not the ones who need to get over anything, mainstream American culture does. ...

This watermelon thing was the latest in a string of racially tinged controversies aimed at President Obama, that he graciously never responded to, but offend all of us who have had to be demeaned because of our ethnic background.

During the presidential campaign, an Inland, Calif., Republican women's group sent out a newsletter depicting Obama surrounded by ribs, fried chicken and watermelon. And of course we all know about last week's New York Post controversy with the cops shooting a chimpanzee and referring to the stimulus package.

Now all these people say they "never meant to offend anyone" with these acts. HELLO!!! MCFLY!!!!!! Don't you have any clue that you should think before you say something ignorant? If you're in a position of communicating to the public, would it be too much to ask for you to take five seconds to be sure your message gets out and does not deride anyone?

I once heard someone try to explain these things were harmless caricatures that have no ability to offend anyone. That they were just food and animals. What a prick!

I'll try to shed some historical light on it. Chicken, Watermelon, even ribs are typical parts of the American diet that's true and people of all colors enjoy them at a picnic. But there was a time when impoverished and enslaved blacks could have only the most meager of diets including chicken, watermelons and pork parts because that's all they got after plantation owners threw scraps at them.

That became in American pop culture a stereotypical symbol of black America -- people who could only afford to eat what was left over. That in turn became how many jokingly looked at blacks and soon tied those images with 'Lil Black Sambo, Pickaninny, and others. Couple that with the association of blacks with monkeys since simian creatures are native to Africa (but not exclusively), it creates an entire new level of institutionalized racism: bigotry through culture.

Now, everyone's ancestors suffered through something, no matter what color. Everyone can tell a story somewhere in his family line of oppression, famine, forced assimilation, etc. But those things are never a joke to be blown off in something as fleeting as a cartoon.

Why is it that with African Americans, suffering is comical fodder?

Don't get me wrong, if anyone has a sense of humor about our culture it's black folks. Believe me, we kid each other about every little quirk. Frankly, my white friends and I always razz each other on the simple things, but that's because we're friends and we understand one another.

But to just use a stereotype as a joke is trite and thoughtlessness isn't funny never has been.

How did I do J.R.O.S..............

Aubrey O'Day has claimed that she would never turn down the chance to reform her previous band Danity Kane if there was interest in a reunion.

The singer-model denied reports that she had been invited to return to the fourth season of Making The Band, telling MTV News that she would not be asked back because she was fired from the group.

O'Day said: "I know what they have confirmed to me, and that is what I said in the season finale.

"Danity Kane was a wonderful group, and like all things, nothing is forever. We had a great run and we were very successful.

"If there was ever interest in me coming back... and making music with the girls, I would never say no to something like that."

She added that she would not comment on any negativity from her former bandmates in the media.

O'Day recently posed for Playboy magazine, saying that sex can be "beautiful", "comfortable" and "empowering".

How U Doin' Amber Rose

Kanye West brought his new video chick girlfriend Amber Rose across the pond to London’s Fashion Week.

Photobucket
But we’re told those rumors you’ve been hearing about Amber being a lesbian are true. Our source who used to work with the little blondie tellsour friends over @ YBF that Ms. Amber, also known as Amber Levonchuck, has a dom ex-girlfriend Tiffany, aka Tre or Trevon. And yes, that’s them gettin’ cozy in the pics above. Apparently Tre is extra pissy that Amber dumped her with no warning as soon as Kanye started showing her some attention a few weeks ago.
Photobucket
Another one of our sources tells us that Amber and Trevon had been dating for two years before Kanye wooed her in his life with the expensive gifts and shiny things. Supposedly ‘Ye is in utter and sheer love for this girl and proudly tells everyone she is his girlfriend. I guess he also doesn’t mind Amber used to be a stripper at Sue’s in Mount Vernon, NY and Dillilah’s in Philly where she went under the name Paris.

Trevon allegedly lives in The Bronx and is totally in depressed mode over Amber and Kanye’s relationship.

Lisa Vs. Kieth Sweat

“Real Housewives of Atlanta” co-star Lisa Wu Hartwell filed for primary custody of her two sons with ex-husband and singer Keith Sweat. Last Thursday she petitioned the court to get full custody of her sons. According to the court papers:

“The best interest of the minor children will be served by modifying the current custody and visitation provisions to make Mother the primary physical condition of the minor children. Since the time of the Divorce Decree, Mother has remarried, owns a successful business and will provide a stable, loving, and nurturing environment in which she can raise the minor children. Wu is seeking primary physical custody and joint legal custody with final decision-making on all issues regarding the minor children. She will reasonably engage Keith in good faith discussions before any final decisions are made concerning the children’s welfare.”

Why was Keith given full custody? Well, according to the judge, the children at the time “lacked structure in their lives, due in substantial part to Mother’s numerous business ventures and frequent trips out of town”. The judge stated Lisa has a history of spending money on herself excessively rather than providing for the children. There was also evidence of violence against Lisa by Keith though.

Her two sons–Jordan Sweat, age 14, and Justin Sweat, age 11–were given to Keith Sweat in a full custody battle 6 years ago. Lisa says she wants them back, but even though she has a successful business and has remarried, she still wants child support as well. Surprise surprise.

R&B stars Ciara and LeToya will see their much delayed new albums, 'Fantasy Ride' and 'Lady Love' respectively, finally released on May 19th.

The news comes after CiCi's 'Fantasy Ride' was bumped from its April 7th retail date, following the release of yet another single - 'Love, Sex, Magic (ft. Justin Timberlake)' this past week. Speaking in an interview with Ed Lover on Power 101.5 last night, the singer explained the reason for the latest date being that the label wants to launch the record at the same time 'globally' - which I, guess, is a viable reason (this time).

No More Cherish....

Photobucket
I’m not sure if I get this, but it seems as though the twins, Fallon and Felisha have parted ways with theie foursome sister group, Cherish, to work on their own material. The new track, “Infected” was produced by JNew, who was also responsible for Cherish’s second single from their latest album, The Truth, “Amnesia.”
Honestly, it doesn’t sound at all different from the material that they recorded with the other two sisters, Neosha and Farrah. But Fallon and Felisha are currently working on an album together, and have been in the studio with the likes of Eric Hudson, Don Vito, Adonis, and Bryan Michael-Cox, all of whom they’ve previously worked with as the Cherish collective.

The Pussycat Dolls are getting in on the Slumdog Millionaire phenomenon by releasing their own version of the film’s Oscar-winning song “Jai Ho.”

Slumdog Millionaire picked up eight Oscars at Sunday’s Academy Awards, including Best Original Song for composer A.R. Rahman’s “Jai Ho.” The Hindi-language hit has since been rerecorded in English by Nicole Scherzinger and the Pussycat Dolls under the title “Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny).”

“It’s an honor to be able to collaborate with A.R. Rahman and be a part of the Slumdog Millionaire project in any way. The movie, the story, and the music was a gift and very spiritually uplifting for me,” states PCD’s Scherzinger. “I can only hope and pray Slumdog Millionaire, and my version of ‘Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny)’ touches and connects people all around the world.”

A video was recently shot at a railway station in Vienna, Austria. The Dolls dressed in colorful attire as they recreated the last scene of the movie aboard antique trains. “The video will be a lot of fun,” says the lead Pussycat Doll.

You’ve heard from Kanye West, Jay-Z, John Legend, and Paul Wall. Now hear what Rihanna’s close friend and frequent collaborator Ne-Yo had to say about the fight heard around the world.

The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter said he has been in touch with Rihanna since Chris Brown allegedly assaulted her. “I spoke to Rihanna. She says she’s fine. She didn’t go into detail about what happened. I understand it’s a painful situation; I didn’t push.”

When asked if he had seen the shocking photo circulating around the Internet, Ne-Yo told MTV News, “I saw the picture. That just really—that hurt me to my heart, man. Again, I still don’t know what happened, ’cause I haven’t had the opportunity to talk to Chris yet. But to take it to that level really hurt my heart. All I can say is, I’m praying for both of them. They’re both in my prayers. I haven’t had a chance to talk to Chris yet. I just wanna sit down and talk to that dude and just explain if he doesn’t understand: ‘That’s not something that’s excusable, bruh. You have to get a little smarter about whatever it is going on in your relationship. You have to get a little smarter about how you handle certain situations.’”

Rihanna’s “Hate That I Love You” duet partner is not jumping to any conclusions though. “I’m not going to crucify him. I’m not going to do that. That’s still my homeboy at the end of the day. For it to go to that level was wrong. I won’t say who was responsible. I won’t pick no sides. I’m just saying it was wrong [that] it had to happen like that, and I’m praying for the both of them.”

Charles Barkley recently returned to work on TNT and apologized for drinking and driving earlier this month. Now, after answering to the public, this week he's answering to the law. Barkley plead guilty to two counts of driving under the influence and pleaded "responsible" for running a stop sign in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Dec. 31.

Barkley was sentenced to 10 days in jail but will only have to serve five days if he completes an alcohol education program. He was also fined $2,000. Barkley will begin his sentence on March 21, but there is no word on which Arizona jail he will do his time in.

"Clearly, I made a mistake drinking and driving. And I'm getting penalized for that, and rightfully so," Barkley told a Florida paper earlier this month. "Drinking and driving is a very serious thing. It was stupid, and it was 100 percent my fault.''

While he's been talking about doing a film with Diana Ross and wanted a sequel for 'Why Did I Get Married?' Tyler Perry's next film will be an adaptation of his stage play, 'I Can Do Bad All by Myself,' featuring Madea.

Currently in theaters, 'Madea Goes To Jail' landed the top spot at the box office last weekend with a stunning $41 million.

As with Perry's other films, the script will be different from what his fans have seen on stage. According to producer Reuben Cannon, filming will commence next month in Atlanta. They are in the process of casting roles for the film.

The stage version was first done in 1999 and featured Perry as Madea.

Season two 'American Idol' winner Ruben Studdard has landed a new deal with Sony/ATV's Hickory Records in partnership with 19 Entertainment.

'American Idol' contestant Elliott Yamin is also signed to the label.
Currently on the road touring in the revival of the Broadway musical, 'Ain't Misbehavin'' alongside fellow 'American Idol' contestants Frenchie Davis and Trenyce, Studdard unveiled his new single 'Together' on AOL Music last week. The song will be available in retail outlets come March 17.

The 31-year-old crooner will release his fourth CD, 'Love Is,' on May 17.

The set will boast production from the likes of Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis (Janet Jackson/Mary J. Blige), among others.
The Birmingham, Alabama-bred singer has released three additional albums – 2003's 'Soulful,' 2004's 'I Need An Angel,' and 2006's 'The Return.'

In other Studdard news, the Grammy nominee is facing trouble with the IRS. New reports indicate that the IRS has filed another tax lien against the singer, who BV Buzz previously owed nearly $200,000 in alleged unpaid taxes.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Britney Spears's paparazzo ex-boyfriend to face felony charges of trying to avoid a process server – with the help of some German engineering.

According to L.A. prosecutors, the victim was serving a temporary restraining order, obtained by Spears's father, at Adnan Ghalib's apartment complex in Encino on Feb. 11 when Ghalib got into his Mercedes and drove it toward the victim.

To avoid being penned against a trash truck, the victim jumped on the hood and hung on as the car served, eventually falling off and breaking his wrist, among other injuries, the District Attorney alleges. Ghalib allegedly drove away without stopping.

Ghalib was slapped Tuesday with three felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon, hit-and-run and battery, all worth up to seven years in prison if convicted. The charges include special allegations: use of a deadly weapon – a car – and great bodily injury. Prosecutors are asking bail be set at $110,000.

Ciara On By 106 & Park

Ciara stopped by BET's 106 & Park yesterday to talk about her new project 'Fantasy Ride' project. Among the discussed, the 22 year old spoke on her collaboration with embattled label mate Chris Brown, a track called 'Turntables' and whether it will remain on the album, the LP's release date (please believe it has changed again!) and more. Peep part 1 above and part 2 of the interview below:

Transformers star Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green have quietly ended their engagement to be married, a source confirms to PEOPLE. "The decision was mutual," says the source. "They're still friends."

The two met in 2004 and were engaged two years later in November 2006. Green, 35, who stars in Fox's Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, told PEOPLE as recently as November that he and Fox were hopeful for a small wedding or even elopement.

I have to admit I'm a little excited about this because let's all admit, she's a little too hott for him. I know I shouldn't say that but, that's just real talk.

Fox, 22, will next be seen in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Official Music Video for Bow Wow "You Can Get It All" featuring Johnta Austin off of New Jack City II coming out on March 31st.

Ciara was a guest on Monday’s episode of BET’s “106 & Park” where she discussed the status of her third album and collaboration with Chris Brown.

“‘Turntables’ will be on the album,” the “Never Ever” singer told hosts Terrence and Rocsi about the track she recorded with the embattled pop star. “Now you may hear it a little bit differently than what you’ve heard it, but in a cool way.”

Will Chris Brown be replaced on the album version? “Turntables” was completed before the allegations that he assaulted Rihanna, and if the song is released as a single, Brown may be unable to promote it properly.

Fantasy Ride also has a new release date, but Ciara did not specify. She shot a video for “Love and Sex and Magic” with Justin Timberlake last week in New York.

With no competition opening up against him and the return of a familiar character to the screen, experts knew 'Tyler Perry's Madea Goes To Jail' would be #1 at the box office; they just didn't know by how much.

Most predicted that 'Jail' would generate somewhere in the neighborhood of $25-$26 million. But the film took in a stunning $41 million, making it the biggest haul for any Perry film and any Lionsgate film.

Playing in a little over 2,000 theaters, 'Jail' grossed $20,236 per screen. His loyal audience didn't care what the critics had to say, good or bad. They wanted to see Madea Simmons back on the screen and they came out in droves.

'Jail's' opening tally even outperformed the overall gross of his last film, 'The Family That Preys', which starred notable actors Sanaa Lathan, Alfre Woodard, Taraji P. Henson and Academy Award winner Kathy Bates. That film, considered his "best" by some, ended its run in the theaters at $37.1 million.

Coming in second place, this weekend, with $11.4 million and continuing to play well is the Liam Neeson thriller, 'Taken.' The action-packed film has brought in a total of $95 million; and should break the $100 million plateau by next week.

Kid-friendly animated film 'Coraline' did well enough in its third weekend to land in third place with $11 million. Voiced by Dakota Fanning, the film has taken in $53.3 so far. Coming in fourth place was the romantic comedy, 'He's Just That Not Into You' with $8.5 million. Featuring Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Scarlett Johansson, and Justin Long in the cast, the film has grossed a total of $70 million.

Rounding out the top five was this year's Oscar winner for Best Picture, 'Slumdog Millionaire'. The Danny Boyle helmed film took in $8 million and is well on its way to the $100 million with $98 million in tow so far.

Dropping 80% from last week's take and knocked off from its #1 position was 'Friday the 13th', which landed in sixth place with $7.8 million. Its box office gross is $55 million, so you can probably expect another Jason Vorhees film in the future.
