Money ain’t a thing for Soulja Boy. The “Crank That” rapper celebrated his 21st birthday by treating himself to a $55 million gift.


According to TMZ, Soulja dropped the staggering amount on a private jet. A member of his management team tells the website that the G5 was purchased as a birthday present to himself.

The ride cost a reported $35 million, but he is spending an additional $20 million to upgrade it with 12 custom Italian leather seats, flat screen TVs, four liquor bars, a travertine-tiled floor, and Brazilian hardwood cabinets.

If that’s not enough, he is replacing the in-flight lavatory with a luxurious bathroom and giving it a custom paint job to include his logo.

He also reportedly spent $300,000 on a blowout birthday bash at a Miami nightclub with guests including Dwight Howard, Bow Wow, and Sean Kingston.

Soulja Boy is facing his biggest life challenge yet. The 20-year-old rapper shared with his Twitter followers that he lost his younger brother on Sunday night in an automobile accident and is stricken with grief from the tragic event.


“At home crying my eyes out I can’t believe my Lil bro is gone… today is so not my day.. RIP lil brother love you always :(,” tweeted a somber Soulja Boy.

Miami Mike, president of Soulja Boy’s S.O.D.M.G. label, expressed support for the “Crank That” hitmaker and his family. “The Flags are @ Half Staff @ the Offices of SODMG & PTE, R.I.P. to @Souljaboy little brother who passed-way in a auto crash last nite :-(.”

His collaborator Sean Kingston also offered his condolences, writing, “Smh life is really short man.. Why do the good die young smh @SouljaBoy keep your head up stay strong..Ima keep u in my prayers bro realtalk.”

Soulja Boy assembles unreleased material for his latest mixtape 1UP. The 20-track giveaway features songs left on the cutting room floor, including an ode to his S.O.D.M.G. crew on “Money Gang” and to the celebrity du jour on “Charlie Sheen.” The artwork and theme are inspired by the “Crank That” rapper’s love of video games, explaining, “If I was in a video game, this mixtape would advance me to the next level with an extra life.” Power up with the new offering

Soulja Boy caused a firestorm after claiming that he wrote Willow Smith’s breakout hit “Whip My Hair.” “YES ITS TRUE I WROTE ‘WHIP MY HAIR’ FOR WILLOW SMITH,” tweeted the 20-year-old rapper. “THATS WHY SHE SAYS HOP OUT THE BED TURN MY SWAG ON. WE GETTING $$$ 2011 NO GAMES.”

Now the real songwriter-producer behind the record, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins’ protégé JukeBox, has responded by rapping over the beat he made for the 10-year-old singer. “Soulja say he ghostwrote it ’cause that’s right he wasn’t there,” spits the hitmaker, who also tweeted, “My house must be POPPIN! cuz i had NO IDEA soulja was in my house when i did that song! #invisibleswag??”


In the description for this clip on YouTube, Jukebox wrote, “Just having some fun. i get what soulja was tryin 2 say, but ehh…”

I totally understand what Soulja Boy was trying to say.  I'm sure he got some kinda pay for using that one line "HOP OUT THE BED TURN MY SWAG ON" because in Jazmine Sullivan's "Bust Yo Windows" at the very end she ad libed in the studio "Now watch me youuuuuuu"and guess what?!?!?!? Soulja Boy actually got publishing off that song.  So say what you want, but $$$$$$ Werk!

Soulja Boy takes the collaborative process literally on the cover for his next single “Hey Cutie” featuring Trey Songz. The 20-year-old rapper, who recently dropped his third album The DeAndre Way, appears to be mashed up with Trey in the Photoshopped image, which shows some of S. Beezy’s signature tattoos and Trigga’s devious smile.

In addition to filming the video with Trey next week, the S.O.D. Money Gang leader has been bragging about his accomplishments in 2010, including the unconfirmed fact that he helped write Willow Smith’s “Whip My Hair.” “YES ITS TRUE I WROTE ‘WHIP MY HAIR’ FOR WILLOW SMITH. Soulja Boy was on BET’s 106 & Park last month and he sported an Adidas Originals Adicolor cardigan ($65) in white and a pair of DC Admiral Sport sneakers ($130). The cardigan is primarily white with blue trim, branded buttons, and a lone pocket positioned near the hem.

Teairra Mari strikes gold in the Yolande Geralds-directed video for “Sponsor,” the new single from her sophomore album. The R&B vixen drives fancy whips, swipes her American Express Black card, and gets pampered thanks to a sizable contribution from her sponsor, played by Soulja Boy Tell’em. Soulja Boy Tell’em helped Keri Hilson turn her swag on, and now she’s returning the favor.


Hilson, who did her own remix to Soulja Boy’s hit “Turn My Swag On,” has collaborated with the 19-year-old rapper on a new song that may appear on his third album The DeAndre Way, due this spring.

“Shoutouts miss keri baby,” he tweeted. “Ladies I think yall gon love the song we did together for my album.”

The “Knock You Down” singer has also been in the studio with Polow Da Don recording the follow-up to her debut album In a Perfect World…

Soulja Boy Tell’em is not about to start kissing (thru the phone) and telling when it comes to his relationship with Teyana Taylor.


“I plead the Fifth,” the 19-year-old rapper tells Rap-Up.com when questioned about rumors that he’s dating the “Google Me” singer. “Teyana is amazing. She cool as hell. I know her real well.”

Without disclosing too much, Soulja Boy did offer some insight into his friendship with Taylor, who bought him an iced-out G-Shock watch for his birthday. “We talk. You gotta have those type of people around you that you can cope with, vibe with, be cool with—somebody that can relate to you ’cause we in the same type of business.”

Aside from the “Super Sweet 16” star, he also admitted to taking a liking to Meagan Good and Keri Hilson. “Meagan Good, that’s my No. 1. She is so so fine, but she got a boyfriend though, so she kinda off limits,” he laughed. “And then you got Keri Hilson. She’s a dime. She’s beautiful. If given the opportunity, it would go down.”

Soulja Boy Tell’em hopped up on the stage and turned his swag on on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” on Monday. Pow!

Soulja Boy Tell’em bared his chest and Sammie did his best Usher impersonation while performing “Kiss Me Thru the Phone” on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on Thursday.
