Mariah Carey took to the stage at the 2008 Teen Choice Awards, which aired last night. The 38 year old diva performed a medley of 'I'll Be Loving U Long Time' and 'Touch my Body'. Though marginally better than most of her more recent showings, I'm still none-too pleased with Mimi's live performance game. She was clearly lip-syncing during some parts, whereas in others it was hard to tell. For an artist renown for being 'The Voice' her insistence on miming like her life depended on it is becoming a little tiresome. What's more, her lack of stage presence makes watching paint dry seem more appealing than a 2008 Mariah performance. I still love her though!!!

Bad Boy's Cassie appears in the August/September issue of Complex Magazine. The 21 year old 'singer' spoke on her voice:
“Based on my past and how my last album came out, I really need to come back much much stronger, I wanted to have more personality. I really want to tell a story when I’m doing a song. Vocally, either you like my voice or you don’t. I’m not trying to blow like Mariah, back when she was doing that.”

Regional Medical Center spokeswoman Kathy Stringer said Freeman, 71, is in serious condition. The hospital is about 90 miles north of the accident scene in rural Tallahatchie County in the Mississippi Delta. Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Ben Williams said Freeman was driving a 1997 Nissan Maxima belonging to Demaris Meyer of Memphis when the car left a rural highway and flipped several times shortly before midnight Sunday.
"There's no indication that either alcohol or drugs were involved," Williams said. He said both Freeman and Meyer were wearing seat belts. The woman's condition was not immediately available. Freeman was airlifted to the hospital in Tennessee. Clay McFerrin, editor of Sun Sentinel in Charleston, said he arrived at the accident scene on Mississippi Highway 32 soon after it happened about 5 miles west of Charleston, not far from where Freeman owns a home with his wife. McFerrin said it appeared that Freeman's car was airborne when it left the highway and landed in a ditch. "They had to use the jaws of life to extract him from the vehicle," McFerrin said. "He was lucid, conscious. He was talking, joking with some of the rescue workers at one point." McFerrin said bystanders converged on the scene trying to get a glimpse of the actor.
When one person tried to snap a photo with a cell phone camera, Freeman joked, "no freebies, no freebies," McFerrin said. Freeman won an Oscar for his role in "Million Dollar Baby." His screen credits also include "The Shawshank Redemption," "Driving Miss Daisy" and "The Dark Knight," now in theaters. He was born in Memphis, Tenn., but spent much of his childhood in the Mississippi Delta. He is a co-owner of the Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale. The hospital where Freeman is being treated is commonly known as The Med, and is an acute-care teaching facility that serves patients within 150 miles of Memphis. (Associated Press)

Three young African-American protestors, and two white women, interrupted Barack Obama at an economic town hall in Florida Friday, accusing the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee of neglecting the black community.
The protestors, who held a sign reading “What About the Black Community, Obama?” said the Illinois senator had not been active enough on issues of interest to African-Americans, ranging from the impact of subprime mortgages to the shooting of Sean Bell and the government’s response to Hurricane Katrina.
Obama urged the audience, which began to boo the hecklers to calm down, before addressing one of the men directly. “I think you’re misinformed. Everything you mentioned I did speak about,” he said, listing legislative initiatives and statements on those issues as the men continued to shout at him and the crowd began to chant “Yes, We Can,” the Obama campaign’s cheer.

Hairspray star Nikki Blonsky and her father were arrested on assault charges Friday following a brawl involving the family of America's Next Top Model contestant Bianca Golden in a Caribbean airport, police tell PEOPLE.
The 19-year-old actress was released on bail, while her father, Carl Blonsky, remained in jail. Golden was also arrested and released on bail. Golden's mother Elaine was reportedly hospitalized with serious injuries.
Sgt. Calvin Chase from the Providenciales Police Department in the Turks and Caicos Islands said the fight erupted in the departure lounge of the Providenciales International Airport after everyone had gone through security.
"Things got out of hand in an argument over seats in the departure lounge, and several people were involved in an altercation," Chase tells PEOPLE. "There were some injuries involved."
Nikki Blonsky was charged with assault with actual bodily harm, which carries a maximum sentence of two years, and common assault, also known as threat of assault, with a 90-day maximum term.
Her father Carl was charged with grevious bodily harm, meaning the victim was injured so severely they needed immediate medical care. The charge carries a five-year maximum sentence. Carl will remain in jail for nine days until a hearing is set on his bail, says Chase.
Bianca Golden was charged with assault with actual bodily harm.
A rep for Blonsky declined to comment.
