Toni Braxton has inked recording contract with Atlantic Records.

The R&B diva, currently competing on the ABC reality series 'Dancing with the Stars,' quietly inked a deal with the label recently and has been selecting music to begin recording her CD for Atlantic while competing on the show.
I'm told the label plans to have Braxton's first offering for the company ready for early 2009.
The 40-year-old singer was last signed to Blackground Records, where she released her fifth album 'Libra' in September 2005.
Braxton, who had released four albums over a 12-year stint on LaFace Records, then filed suit against Blackground's founder Barry Hankerson, who was also Braxton's manager, after her CD failed to perform.

In the suit filed in January 2007, the star of Broadway's 'Aida' also alleged "fraud, deception and double dealing," in addition to mismanaging her relationship with Arista Records in the $10 million claim.

Beyoncé Knowles is to perform at this year's MTV Europe Music Awards ceremony, it has been announced.

The R&B singer is the first artist to be named as a confirmed performer for the event, which takes place at Liverpool's Echo Arena on November 6. Details of the other performing stars will be released within the next few weeks.

Knowles has appeared at the EMAs on two previous occasions. Most recently, she performed her hit song 'Baby Boy' at the 2003 ceremony, which was held in Edinburgh.

"We are extremely pleased that Beyoncé is returning to the MTV Europe Music Awards and will once again wow the audience with what promises to be a show-stopping performance," said Richard Godfrey, the ceremony's executive producer. "I am confident that when we reveal the final acts to perform, the bill will live up to our promise that the MTV Europe Music Awards will absolutely be the best gig in Europe this year."

The announcement came as MTV unveiled the finalists in seven of the eleven categories for this year's ceremony, which see Coldplay and Duffy leading the way with three nominations each. Both acts will face competition from Alicia Keys, Britney Spears and Leona Lewis in the Album Of The Year category, as well as Katy Perry, Kid Rock and P!nk for the Most Addictive Track prize.

While attending the Gucci Spring 2009 show in Milan, Rihanna, who has already done charity T-shirts with H&M and designed umbrellas for Totes, admitted to WWD that a clothing line is in the works, “I’m not one to rush into anything. I want to take my time. I can’t say when it will be released, but it’s definitely going to happen.” That’s good enough for us! With her girly spin on rock n’ roll style, we are sure Rihanna is gearing up to be the next Gwen Stefani. Tell us: Are you excited about Rihanna’s line?

Kanye West won't face felony charges for his Sept. 11 arrest involving a tussle with paparazzi, the L.A. County District Attorney's Office announced Friday.

Instead, the L.A. City Attorney's Office is reviewing the case for a possible misdemeanor charge, office spokesman Frank Mateljan said.

The rapper, 31, was arrested on a felony vandalism charge for allegedly damaging a photographer's equipment.

Also arrested was West's road manager, Don Crawley, 32, who's also accused of breaking photographers' equipment.

Both West and Crawley are free on bail.

West's lawyer, Blair Berk, wasn't immediately available for comment.

Who would've ever thought starring in a Disney Broadway musical could be so life threatening?

Unfortunately that was the case for 51-year old actor-singer Adrian Bailey, who severely injured himself during a May 10 matinee performance of 'The Little Mermaid.'

Bailey fell through a trap door on the deck of a suspended boat prior to the start of the performance, which lead the actor to suffer from fractured wrists, a broken back, a shattered pelvis, a fractured sternum, several fractured ribs and a fractured foot.

All of this for Ariel?

Following the accident, a court petition was filed on May 14 with the Manhattan Supreme Court. Now the singing actor is filing a lawsuit against Disney.

Dancers we can all learn from this, I'm sure you have all been in a show and never really thought of the dangers that can occur. Remember to be careful, be aware, and cautious. Prayers going out for a speedy recovery, and a huge settlement!!! Sayit!!!

If you tuned into to every major network tonight, you saw the first ever debate between presidential candidates John McCain and Barack Obama. But what was built up to be the political "rumble in Mississippi" between the veteran McCain and the newcomer Obama, was all hype and short on delivery. The suspense of whether John McCain would show up, if he was afraid to debate, and if Obama be would ready to slay, were answered in the first five minutes.

Both men began with their prepared speeches, almost oblivious to the questions coming from PBS host and moderator Jim Lehrer. However, the themes of the night, which were foreign policy and national security, soon took center stage, with each man laying out their differences and similarities.

On the economy, Obama and McCain both agree that any bailout plan for Wall Street should include greater oversight and transparencies, and not include "golden parachutes" for executives who ran their companies into the ground. Obama would also add help for homeowners, while McCain wants loans for struggling businesses. Interesting to note was when McCain seemed to backtrack on saying he'd fire the head of the SEC. Now, he claims he would simply call for his resignation; that is, of course, because the President doesn't have the authority to fire him.

Lionsgate has released the full to 'The Spirit', which stars Gabriel Macht, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendes, Sarah Paulson, Paz Vega, Jaime King, Dan Lauria, Stana Katic, Johnny Simmons, and Louis Lombardi.

Adapted from the legendary comic book series created by Will Eisner, 'The Spirit' is a classic action-adventure-romance written for the screen and directed by genre-twister Frank Miller (creator of '300' and 'Sin City'). It is the story of a former rookie cop who returns mysteriously from the dead as the Spirit (Gabriel Macht) to fight crime from the shadows of Central City. His arch-enemy, the Octopus (Samuel L. Jackson) has a different mission: he's going to wipe out Spirit's beloved city as he pursues his own version of immortality. The Spirit tracks this cold-hearted killer from Central City's rundown warehouses, to the damp catacombs, to the windswept waterfront... all the while facing a bevy of beautiful women who either want to seduce, love or kill our masked crusader.

Surrounding him at every turn are Ellen Dolan (Sarah Paulson), the whip-smart girl-next-door; Silken Floss (Scarlett Johansson), a punk secretary and frigid vixen; Plaster of Paris (Paz Vega), a murderous French nightclub dancer; Lorelei (Jaime King), a phantom siren; and Morgenstern (Stana Katic), a sexy young cop. Then of course, there's Sand Saref (Eva Mendes), the jewel thief with dangerous curves. She's the love of his life turned bad. Will he save her or will she kill him? In the vein of 'Batman Begins' and 'Sin City,' 'The Spirit' takes us on a sinister, gut-wrenching ride with a hero who is born, murdered and born again.
The film comes out on December 25, 2008.

Get ready for an encore! Variety has stated that Warner Bros. has set in motion a prequel to the Will Smith film 'I Am Legend.'

The plan is for Smith to reprise his role as scientist Robert Neville, with Francis Lawrence returning to direct. Akiva Goldsman and his Weed Road banner will produce with James Lassiter, Smith's partner in Overbrook Entertainment.

The prequel will chronicle the final days of humanity in New York before a man-made virus caused a plague that left Smith's character the lone survivor among a mutated mob in the city.

The studio has set D.B. Weiss to write a script that is based on a detailed outline that was hatched over the past few months by Smith, Goldsman, Lassiter and Lawrence.

Making a prequel was the only way to extend a franchise that grossed $584 million worldwide for Warner Bros. and keep Smith in the lead role. His character was killed in the first film, after extracting a potential cure for the virus for the scattered survivors.

Lionsgate snuck out the teaser trailer to Tyler Perry's 'Madea Goes To Jail' yesterday.

Based by Perry's play of the same name, 'Goes to Jail' focuses its story on Madea whose trouble-making act puts her behind bars.

Starring Perry as Madea, the film also stars Keshia Knight Pulliam as 'Candy', Vanessa Ferlito, Sofia Vergara, Derek Luke, Keke Palmer, David and Tamela Mann, Viola Davis, Judge Mablean Ephriam. Ion Overman, Ronreaco Lee, and Aisha Hinds.

After a high-speed freeway chase puts Madea in front of the judge, her reprieve is short-lived as anger management issues get the best of her and land her in jail. A gleeful Joe couldn't be happier at Madea's misfortune. But Madea's eccentric family members the Browns rally behind her, lending their special "country" brand of support.

Meanwhile, Assistant District Attorney Joshua Hardaway is on the fast track to career success. But Hardaway lands a case too personal to handle - defending young prostitute and former drug addict Candace Washington - and asks his fiance and fellow ADA Linda Holmes to fill in on his behalf. When Candace ends up in jail, Madea befriends the young woman, protecting her in a 'motherly' way as only Madea can.

Lionsgate will release the film in theaters on February 20, 2009

Shia LaBeouf won't face DUI charges for the July 27 car accident that crushed his hand, the L.A. County District Attorney's Office announced Thursday.

"After reviewing the case, we've declined to file any charges due to insufficient evidence," says DA spokeswoman Jane Robison.

Following the crash, the 22-year-old Transformers star was cited with misdemeanor DUI while he was still at the hospital.

Prosecutors instead plan to file criminal charges against the other driver, who was found to have run a red light, Robison says.

"We're very happy with the prosecutor's decision, and we're glad this whole thing resolved without Shia having to go to court," LaBeouf's attorney Michael Norris tells PEOPLE

Although the DA rejected the case, LaBeouf still faces a DMV hearing Friday and the possible suspension of his driver's license, L.A. County Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore tells PEOPLE.

"When an individual refuses to take a blood alcohol test, that person's license is automatically suspended for six to nine months," says Whitmore.

At the Sept. 16 premiere of his new movie Eagle Eye, LaBeouf's hand was in a white protective guard and he kept it in his pocket most of the night.

"I'm just propped up right now to do Transformers 2," LaBeouf told PEOPLE. "Then, when I get another surgery, I'll start recovering. Right now, I'm getting through."

Following the hysteria Ciara's recent 'nude' photo shoot for Vibe magazine caused, the singer has been going back and forth with the magazine - claiming the pictures were doctored to portray her in a light she didn't approve of (basically, that she claims the shots were altered make her appear as if she was naked when she wasn't). Speaking from the set of her new video 'Go Girl', Ciara further asserts that she wasn't nude:

Word has it Beyonce's much anticipated new singles 'If I Were A Boy' and 'Single Ladies' -originally set to debut October 7th - has been pushed back a week. The reason being cited is that delay is due to Beyonce and/or her label wanting to accommodate the release of Michelle Williams' new album 'Unexpected', which is slated to hit stores on October 7th.

Ms. Knowles singles, both of which have had their accompanying videos shot already, will now premiere on October 14th.

I think this is a good look that she's pushing the singles back, but do you think 1 week is really enough time to give Michelle to shine? and sell?
