Solo DJ's In NYC

Solange Knowles went with an all-white-everything motif last night at New York City’s Greenhouse nightclub, where she served as resident DJ for the evening. Rocking a knitted mesh cap over a tight coif and a sweater with argyle symmetrical spaces chopped out, Solange put her spinning skills to the test as she commanded the dance floor for the evening.

The 24-year-old took a break from recording her upcoming third album, which she previously described as being more of a dance record with lyrics that are relatively dark. Click below to get a good look at Ms. Knowles making her way through the establishment.

Who knew? Lil Wayne is a tennis fan!

In a hand-written letter to Sports Illustrated, the platinum-selling artist (real name: Dwayne Michael Carter Jr.) made some predictions from prison regarding the upcoming U.S. Open. He got into tennis, he writes after trying to play and finding it "unbelievably difficult."

"I'm a huge [Rafael] Nadal fan," he says. "I'm definitely rooting for him to get the Grand Slam and win the U.S. Open." He cites Nadal's primary opponents as Roger Federer, Andy Roddick, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic.

"Nadal wins it all," he repeats. As for the women, Lil Wayne says he's rooting for Kim Clijisters to take the title.

Sadly, the rapper won't be able to attend any of the matches. He's currently serving a year-long sentence for gun possession.

They may have called it quits months ago, but Halle Berry and her model ex Gabriel Aubry sure have been spending a lot of time together – and with their 2-year-old daughter Nahla.

Just don't confuse the closeness for a romantic reconciliation.

"They are great parents and they want the best for Nahla," a source close to Berry tells DIDNTINVITEME. "She is their priority. They love that little girl a lot."

And their love of their daughter is global in scope. In recent months, the three have spent time together in California, South Africa and England. After going public with their breakup in June, the family was spotted at Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif.

Weeks later, they flew from L.A. to South Africa, where Berry, 44, began filming her new movie, the maritime thriller Dark Tide in mid-July.

When Berry wasn't filming, she and Nahla were busy sightseeing at Cape Town's Table Mountain, one of the city's top tourist spots thanks to its views. The next day, the ladies teamed up with Aubry, 33, for a visit to Two Oceans Aquarium, where Berry told staff she was researching sharks for her movie.

According to an onlooker in the aquarium's gift shop, the parents "were together but distant," shopping separately, while Aubry also spent some time with Nahla outside. "They didn't behave as if they were a couple in love," the onlooker says. "He did his thing and she did hers."

Before leaving South Africa, Berry and her Dark Tide costars also toured Monwabisi Park, a poor district in nearby Khayelitsha township. The actress and the crew paid a visit to the Indlovu Project, a community development initiative that includes a clinic, youth center and community hall.

Next on the global itinerary: London, where the three set up shop at a luxury hotel in the tony Kensington neighborhood and were spotted touring the city on Aug. 26, making stops at the London Eye, Harrods and Buckingham Palace, where the family watched the changing of the guard. Also on the itinerary? A stroll through Hyde Park. Berry also spent a day alone in the city with her daughter.

"They're going to co-parent and go on with their lives," the source says. "They will be in each other's lives forever."

Kanye may have failed to deliver on his promise to kick off G.O.O.D. Friday today with the release of a freebie from his musical family, but he shared something even better. The Chi-town native took to his Twitter account to announce the upcoming release of a 5-track album recorded with Jay-Z called Watch the Throne.

“Me and jay bout to drop a 5 song album called “Watch the Throne,’” the emcee tweeted.

Though it’s currently unknown when the collection of tracks will see the light of day, the pair have recently collaborated on a remix to “POWER,” which could potentially end up counting as one of the five joints that make the final cut.

Kanye is currently working on his currently untitled fifth album. The LP, which was previously called Good Ass Job and Dark Twisted Fantasy, is said to feature production from Pete Rock, Q-Tip, Madlib, DJ Toomp, RZA and Swizz Beatz, who helmed the remix to “POWER.” Additional guest appearances are said to be Clipse’s Pusha T, Rick Ross, Beyonce Knowles, Big Sean, Kid CuDi, Mos Def and Nicki Minaj.

Usher's marriage to Tameka Foster may have ended in divorce, but the singer doesn't consider the relationship a failure.

"I appreciate the relationship for what it was," he says. "Even though it didn't work out, I'm glad we got together. I love her as the mother of my children; we just couldn't be married."

So what went wrong? Usher says that shortly after the birth of their second child, he and Foster started to disagree over everything from parenting style to his busy schedule.

"We're two different people," he says, "and we have two different goals. It just was never going to work out 100 percent."

The singer, 31, who sat down with our friends over at PEOPLE in his Atlanta-area home, says that the couple's priority continues to be their children. (He and Foster share custody of Usher V, who turns 3 in November, and Naviyd, who turns 2 a month later.)

"We had to put our issues aside and focus on raising them," he says. "There will never be another mother for my sons, and I'll always be their father."

Raising two boisterous boys can be challenging, especially when they take after their famous dad. "Usher [V] is always in everything," he says. "He's an instigator. He's the one who leads his brother astray. I was like that when I was his age."

Naviyd is more of a follower, doing whatever his big brother does. "So if one gets in trouble, the other one does, too," says Usher. "They both have a lot of energy. They can wear me out."

Fortunately, Usher has a babysitter nearby – his mom, Jonetta Patton, lives around the corner. "She spoils them," Usher says with a sigh. "She lets them do everything that she wouldn't let me do. Sometimes, when I'm scolding the kids, I sound just like my mom. I'm like, 'how did Jonetta get in here?' "

Usher, who released his new EP Versus last week, says that his work continues to evolve as he evolves in his own life.

"My music is about where I am at the time," he says. "In Raymond vs. Raymond, I was going through a lot of things, and it came out in my music. My marriage fell apart and I was suddenly a single father. But now, with Versus, I'm singing about being a dating father."

And will he sing about falling in love again? "I still believe in love," says Usher. "I believe in marriage. When I fall in love again, everyone will know. I'll sing about it."

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen make a (color) coordinated duo as they prepare for their flight Tuesday at Los Angeles International Airport in nearly identical, oversized black ensembles.

Less than 24 hours since she was released from rehab, Lindsay Lohan emerged Wednesday in a Beverly Hills parking garage with a drink – an energy drink – in her hand.

The actress, 24, clad in an all black ensemble, sunglasses and headphones around her neck, was spotted for the first time since serving 13 full days in jail and spending three weeks at UCLA's Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital.

Following her release from rehab, Lohan, who is now in UCLA's outpatient program, was ordered to psychotherapy treatment and will also be required to submit to random drug and alcohol testing twice a week.

Actor Idris Elba and actor/singer Chris Brown recently stopped by BET’s 106 & Park to promote their new movie Takers. Idris was seen wearing the new Nike Toki ND sneakers in black/gold harvest ($90) from the perforated leather pack. While Chris was rocking a pair of Eric Koston x Nike Dunk High SB “Thai Temple” sneakers ($150). There’s been a lot of buzz surrounding this movie, which is set to be released in theaters this Friday (08/27/2010). Is anyone planning on going out to see it?

It started off with just a few, and now almost everyone who keeps up with the trends owns a pair of the popular Beats by Dr. Dre headphones. Now you can do them all one better, thanks to CrystalRoc and their exclusive Swarovski crystals encrusted Beats by Dr. Dre headphones. These black headphones are covered in over 4320 precious Swarovski crystal stones, and if black with crystals isn’t your thing, CrystalRoc has chrome and gold plated models planned for the near future. Currently there’s no word on the price, but just know it’s going to be up there.

"I've said this a lot to people who have sat in that chair. But I don't think I've ever meant it more than right now. I am so happy to see you ... alive and well." These were the words of George Lopez, who welcomed Fantasia Barrino as his guest on the latest 'Lopez Tonight' (weeknights, 11PM ET on TBS).

Fantasia has had a bad couple of weeks. She's been having an affair with a married man, was named in a lawsuit by the man's wife, and was alleged to have made a bunch of sex tapes. And then, on August 9th, following the pressure of these events, she attempted suicide by overdosing on pills. The 'American Idol' winner survived. While on 'Lopez,' she explained her motivation for trying to kill herself.

Barrino said the motivation didn't just come from her recent relationship scandal. Rather, it was a result of six years of criticism following her sudden rise to fame. Fantasia felt like she was always being attacked about something: about her clothes, her shoes, or the way that she talked.

Lopez had some advice for Fantasia; a way for her to avoid this constant stream of criticism. "Girl, you need to get off Twitter!" he said.

But George also spoke more seriously to Barrino, and reminded her that choosing life is important: "You are a talented, talented woman, and you are a mother to a beautiful daughter ... and that's what should come first, every day."

Jay-Z (Bauer Griffin)He's already the self-described best rapper alive, but now Jay-Z is ready to start gunning for World's Greatest Dad.

The 40-year-old rapper would love to have children with wifeBeyonce Knowles after being inspired by close friends Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow, who have kids Apple, five, and four-year-old Moses together.

He said: “They are a really cool family with beautiful kids, who happen to be good at the jobs they do."

Asked if he wanted something similar himself, the "99 Problems" star -- who says Apple and Moses call him ‘Uncle Jay’ -- told magazine: “Kids? Of course."

Though the music mogul -- who dealt drugs in his native Marcy, New York, when he was 13 -- is now close friends with the privately-educated Coldplay frontman, he admits it wouldn’t have been the case if they had met earlier in life.

He said: “What would I have thought of Chris at 16? That’s a different scenario. He couldn’t have walked through Marcy. I was a different person then -- I wasn’t open to the world and different cultures. I would have been, ‘Yo! Who are you? Give me your money.’ You couldn’t have a guy like Chris walking through Marcy. He’d have got robbed. At best.”

Beyonce has also admitted she wanted to try for a baby this year. Last July, the Crazy in Lovesinger hinted she may get pregnant once her year-long tour was over. She said: "I think I'll have a child when it's supposed to happen. Right now, I'll be on tour for a year and, you know..."

Usher hits the club with Pitbull for the Hiro Murai-directed video for “DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love,” the first single off his recently released EP Versus. Mr. Raymond gets the bodies rocking as he makes his way through the establishment, dancing as clubbers freeze around him. And what would a dance-oriented video be without a dance-off at the end? Stick around until then and you’ll get the payoff.

Martin Short, a nominee for his work on FX's Damages, will skip the Emmy Awards this Sunday as he grieves the death of his wife of 30 years, Nancy Dolman.

Short, 60, has been receiving condolences from those close to him, and was spotted this week accepting an arrangement of white flowers and walking with actress and comedian Catherine O'Hara, a fellow Canadian and SCTV alum.

Dolman, 58, died Saturday after a 911 call was made from Short's L.A. home. A coroner official has said she died of natural causes.

Best known for his comedy work, Short received the Emmy nod this year for a serious role as attorney Leonard Winstone on the FX legal thriller.

With his first high-profile gig singing the hook on B.o.B’s number one single “Nothin’ on You,” Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Bruno Mars is striking while the iron’s hot. Following the success of his debut EP It’s Better If You Don’t Understand, the Hawaii native is prepping the release of his anticipated first full-length album Doo Wops & Hooligans, due in stores October 5.

Doo Wops, available for pre-order August 31, is set to be a melting pot of genres including reggae, folk and ’50s pop. Fans can get a taste of what the album has to offer by checking out the first single “Just the Way You Are,” which has already cracked the topped the Top 3 on iTunes’ Top Singles Chart. Director Ethan Lader (B.o.B, Kidz in the Hall) will helm the video for the track, with a premiere date set for early November.

The 23-year-old, who is currently seeing success crooning on Travie McCoy’s smash “Billionaire,” got his start after moving to L.A. post-high school, joining forces with Philip Lawrence and Ari Levine to form the songwriting trio dubbed The Smeezingtons. After helping pen tracks for Justin Bieber, Flo Rida and Sean Kingston, Mars stepped into the spotlight by singing on “Nothin’ on You,” putting his solo career on the fast track.

Making his New York City live debut tonight, Mars will hit the road as opening act on a few of Maroon 5’s upcoming October gigs, followed by an international tour opening for McCoy.

The Queen Bee shakes her tailfeather alongside Australian newcomer am8er in the video for her debut single, “10 Date Commandments.” Kim, who previously remade Biggie’s classic drug-slinging anthem “10 Crack Commandments” with Lil’ Mo titled “10 Commandments,” adds some hip-hop flavor to the candy pop tune, which lists the rules on how to properly date your man. The song is set to be included on am8er’s debut, Strawberries and Kittens, slated for release later this year.  Oh Kimmy, the things we do for $$$.  I'm sure Nicki Minaj is Ke-Ke-ing over this one.  Shout out to my girl @Overla26 dancing with Kim. Everybody follow her on Twitter!!!!

Mum’s the word on whether Mariah Carey may or may not be expecting, but the singer has stirred up further speculation by stepping out in Sao Paulo wearing A Pea in the Pod‘s Spaghetti Strap Halter Maternity Maxi Dress ($140). We spotted her last Thursday leaving a steakhouse in Brazil in the brown dress from the maternity chain.

While Carey, 40, remains quiet and husband Nick Cannon plays coy, the singer’s rep Cindi Berger shares, “I spoke to Mariah from Brazil. She is very superstitious — and when the time is right for her and Nick to announce something, she will.”

Don't worry about Timbaland – he never tried to take his own life.

"I don't even know what happened, to be honest," the rapper-producer (real name: Timothy Mosley) told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show Wednesday, after reports that he tried to commit suicide surfaced online. "I don't know what people are talking about. Why would I commit suicide?"

Earlier Wednesday, news broke that Timbaland, 39, fled his house and wanted to harm himself after someone reportedly stole a $2 million watch from his collection.

"Something did happen," he told Seacrest, confirming that he was robbed. "It wasn't a watch [that was stolen]. It was something else." And, Timbaland says, he "took a drive to figure out how I'm going to handle it," while somebody close to him reportedly called the authorities, concerned about his well-being.

According to the Malibu Lost Hills Sherriff's Department, a caller indicated they "had an emergency," that Timbaland was upset and under stress – and that he left his Malibu house in his Cadillac Escalade. Authorities added that his wife, mother-in-law and friends were unable to find him and were under the impression he had taken some medication before driving off.

Telling Seacrest that those closest to him likely feared for his safety because they hadn't heard from him, the rapper-producer understands that "people got worried." When police tracked him down on the Pacific Coast Highway, he recognized the officer and assured him that everything was fine after being told of his family's concern.

"I snapped," he told Seacrest. "I was like, 'Who would report something like that?' "

Amid all the drama, Timbaland returned to the studio Wednesday to record with Keri Hilson. Said Timbaland: "I don't know a person who would [try to] commit suicide [and then] be at the studio."

Following her suicide attempt a few weeks back, Fantasia Barrino appeared this morning on ABC’s “Good Morning America” to give an in-depth interview about her personal troubles as well as to promote her recent release Back to Me. During the brief conversation, she divulged what prompted her to try to take her own life and how she got back on her feet so quickly.

“I’m good, I’m fine, I’m better,” a glowing Fantasia told GMA’s Robin Roberts. “I think I was just overloaded with everything and carrying six years of so much. Everybody thinks she’s so strong, she’s tough, she’s got it. It just became heavy for me, to the point where I just wanted to be away from the noise.”

The American Idol winner explained that she reached her breaking point after the media began to scrutinize her personal life and relationship to a married man. “[There’s] so much that people don’t understand,” she said. “They just see the glitz and the glamor and they feel like life is so perfect, but we’re human and we go through things.”

“I think it was just six years of everything, of me holding all that stuff on the inside and not letting it out. And I just got very, very tired,” she explained as to why she overdosed on pills.

She also shared that she has been bettering herself and bettering her well being by talking with a life coach, who encouraged her to get back to work following her hospitalization. Visibly choked up, she also credited her rebound due to the help of a nurse who tended to her while she stayed in the hospital.

“I’m just thankful for all the nurses and the doctors who were there for me,” she said, wiping away tears. “Because they didn’t treat me like Fantasia. They treated me like Tasia, and I needed that.”

Two weeks after her suicide attempt, Fantasia Barrino is ready to open up about her dramatic overdose. The singer, who’s already back on the promo grind for her upcoming album Back to Me, recently spoke with VH1 for an episode of Behind the Music, sharing that she had attempted suicide after losing faith in life and looked for a way out.

“I didn’t have any fight in me. I didn’t care about anything. I just wanted out,” explained the 26-year-old American Idol winner. “At that moment, I wanted out. I wanted it to be over with – all of it, all of that [expletive].”

Fantasia, who found herself in a relationship with a married man who claimed he was separated from his wife, detailed the harrowing experience. “I just sat in the closet and looked at the mirror and took all the pills in the bottle. I wanted to go to sleep and just be at peace. I knew exactly what I was doing. You can’t accidentally take a whole bottle of pills.”

Her manager Brian Dickens, who discovered the star following her overdose, reflected on the situation as well. “She’d been crying all day. Fantasia was just numb. Fantasia texted me, saying ‘I love you.’ I wrote back, ‘I love you more.’ Then it hit me,” he said. “I went into Fantasia’s room and saw her on the floor, and my heart just dropped.”

Fantasia’s episode of VH1’s Behind the Music will air at 9.P.M. on Tuesday, August 24, the same day that her new album will arrive in stores.

Brandy isn’t having much luck in the legal department. Marc Mysterio, a popular Scandinavian DJ, has filed suit against the 31-year-old in Los Angeles County Superior Court for a whopping $6 million after claiming that she failed to follow through on a deal to write and perform “32 bars of music.”

Mysterio claims that he handed over a check for $10,000 to Brandy in June, with the understanding that she would write and record her part of the song. After the singer accepted the money and failed to fulfill her end of the bargain, Mysterio asserts that he lost more than $25,000 from the deal.

Brandy, who most recently starred on the popular VH1 reality show Brandy and Ray J: A Family Business, is no stranger to legal troubles. The star was involved in a highly publicized car crash in late 2006 that claimed the life of a 38-year-old woman. Brandy was later sued by the woman’s parents, widower and children in separate suits.

Jennifer Aniston (Getty Images)These best Friends are reuniting! Jennifer Aniston is a confirmed guest star on Courteney Cox's hit show Cougar Town, EW.com reports.

Apparently Aniston will appear on the premiere of the second season of the series, which will air on September 22.

Executive producer Bill Lawrence said, "She’s going to play Courteney’s shrink named Bonnie. Kind of a get-too-involved-in-her-life-type of therapist. Those guys are so close in real life they kind of do that for each other anyway. Bonnie has the life Jules wishes she has.”

Courteney and Jen are said to be excited about teaming up onscreen again, which they haven't done since Aniston guest starred on Dirt in 2007. Bosses at Cougar Town reportedly wanted to wait until the show was fully established before getting Aniston involved this time around.

Lawrence added, "It took us a while to find the show, and once we did and once it was clicking, I think that not only did Courteney feel comfortable talking to Jen about doing it, but comfortable in how funny she thinks the show is and that Jen would like it and fit into this world really well."
