"I've said this a lot to people who have sat in that chair. But I don't think I've ever meant it more than right now. I am so happy to see you ... alive and well." These were the words of George Lopez, who welcomed Fantasia Barrino as his guest on the latest 'Lopez Tonight' (weeknights, 11PM ET on TBS).

Fantasia has had a bad couple of weeks. She's been having an affair with a married man, was named in a lawsuit by the man's wife, and was alleged to have made a bunch of sex tapes. And then, on August 9th, following the pressure of these events, she attempted suicide by overdosing on pills. The 'American Idol' winner survived. While on 'Lopez,' she explained her motivation for trying to kill herself.

Barrino said the motivation didn't just come from her recent relationship scandal. Rather, it was a result of six years of criticism following her sudden rise to fame. Fantasia felt like she was always being attacked about something: about her clothes, her shoes, or the way that she talked.

Lopez had some advice for Fantasia; a way for her to avoid this constant stream of criticism. "Girl, you need to get off Twitter!" he said.

But George also spoke more seriously to Barrino, and reminded her that choosing life is important: "You are a talented, talented woman, and you are a mother to a beautiful daughter ... and that's what should come first, every day."
