It has been confirmed that Janet Jackson's Japanese leg of her 'Rock Witchu' tour, which was supposed to kick off in 3 weeks, has been postponed due to the 'global financial crisis':
Janet Jackson is having a rough time of it. She split with her second major label in less than three years after her latest album, Discipline, failed to catch fire. Her 2008 Rock Witchu Tour was plagued by postponed and canceled dates due to an unexplained illness that was later described as severe vertigo.
And now the singer has been forced to postpone her upcoming tour of Japan due to the global financial crisis. According to BBC News, Japanese concert promoter Kyodo Yokohama announced on Monday that Jackson would be postponing the five dates the singer had scheduled in Japan between February 14 and February 22 "due to the impact of [the] economic crisis."
Jackson, 42, had planned to hit such major Japanese cities as Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka on the world Rock Witchu outing, which was her first major tour in nearly seven years. According to reports, the tour will be rescheduled for later this year with new dates expected to be announced in March.
The announcement comes on the heels of the recent news that Jackson's longtime boyfriend, rapper/producer Jermaine Dupri, has left his position as the head of Island Def Jam Records' urban music department after what he described as a troubled relationship with label boss L.A. Reid.

Mark Curry, no not the comedian, a former Bad Boy artist is releasing a tell all book about his [mis]adventures while working with Diddy called, “Dancing With The Devil”. Curry dished [what we all suspected] that Diddy would feature himself in his artist videos but charge them for the “appearance” later – LOL.
Curry said, "Puff has an annoying habit of inserting himself into the songs and videos of all the artists on his label and Puff charged the artists for his appearance on their records and videos, usually without (them) realising it until they receive their royalty statements. That's when they discovered that their large sums of money had gone to fees which were doubled, tripled and even quadrupled because of Puff's 'special appearances.'” This includes Diddy charging his artist for featuring his Bentley – which according to Curry he insisted should be in the video – and then Diddy would write it off as a business expense!
This is absolutely hilarious; every body knew Diddy loves to impose himself in videos but to charge your artist for that?!! That’s kinda grimy.

Lil Kim DID see Notorious the movie, and she ripped Naturi Naughton a new one.
"I feel like I was not portrayed how I should have been in this movie. I was in love with BIG and he was in love with me. I was never a JUMP-OFF, I know this and BIG knew this. I wasn’t even able to choose who I wanted to portray me in this movie. I would have never picked Naturi, she doesn’t have a Lil Kim aura at all! She looks nothing like I looked back then. We have NO similarities. Watching her on-screen was so “dreadful” as Simon Cowell would say. She is tasteless and talentless. Never once did she contact me for input or to get a feel of me for the character. A “TRUE” actress would contact the source to be the best they can be in portaying someone. That told me right there, she wasn’t right for the part and not to mention, Naturi has got to be one of THE worst actresses I’ve ever seen and I can’t believe they chose her. I really can’t!"

Kanye West’s Louis Vuitton Sneakers Make Their Runway Debut in Paris
0 comments Posted by J.R. Taylor at 5:15 AM
Kanye West has officially turned sneaker designer. The hip-hop star and self-proclaimed Louis Vuitton Don turned his love of sneakers — he has over 400 pairs! — into a high-end collaboration with Louis Vuitton. Out of the five styles he’s created for the iconic brand, a style with a quilted back debuted during the line’s fall menswear presentation in Paris yesterday. After the show, WWD caught up with the new footwear designer to hear more. “I was inspired by the movie Dune. The collection had all these jackets that were very padded. They looked like maybe they had hockey pads in the jacket, and there was one where the collar came up really high. I took that element, and I put that on the back of the shoe. It’s like the opposite of the tongue. Usually you have the tongue at the front. [This is] like a tongue at the back,” explained Kanye. Working with Marc Jacobs, Kanye’s favorite designer whom he dubs the Jay-Z of the fashion world, was a blessing. “To me, Louis Vuitton is the most important brand in fashion. I am proud to have collaborated with LV on these shoes and even more proud of the finished product,” the artist says in a statement. On the flip side, Marc Jacobs tells WWD that he was impressed by Kanye’s dedication to his work, saying “I think Kanye goes to the office more than I do. He’s really, really into sneakers.” The complete Kanye West collection will be available at Louis Vuitton stores in June 2009. Tell us: What do you think of Kanye’s design?

Real Housewives of Atlanta: Kim & NeNe Are Now ‘Buddies’ — Or Are They?
0 comments Posted by J.R. Taylor at 4:05 AM
Have Kim Zolckiak and NeNe Leakes reconciled? It depends on whom you ask.
Zolciak and Leakes, two of the stars of Bravo’s juggernaut hit, The Real Housewives of Atlanta, stepped out Thursday (along with other celebrities like Gossip Girl’s Michelle Trachtenberg and The City’s Olivia Palermo) to attend the swanky grand opening party of Atlanta’s new Buckhead W Hotel. And while Zolciak seems to have put away her claws, Leakes had other plans.
Zolciak, fresh from the Sundance Film Festival, was excited about seeing Leakes with whom she shared vicious cat fights during the show’s first season. “I am actually waiting on NeNe right now. We are buddies,” a hopeful Zolciak said. “When the filming stopped, we had a glass of wine, talked and it was great. I miss her.”
Arriving at the party after Zolciak, Leakes immediately scoffed at Zolciak’s comments when asked about it. “Kim says that we are friends now, oh really? Well, I never make the same mistake twice,” Leakes said. “We can squash the drama, but we will never be friends. She is not a good friend. We can be associates, but never friends.”
Atlanta, which relied on drama between the stars for its sky-high ratings during season 1, will return to Bravo for a second season. “There is a lot of pressure to [be successful again] and that’s why I cannot be [Kim's] BFF,” Leakes explained. “I need my check and I am going to tell it like it is!”
Zolciak — who says she is currently in talks with music labels about her country album — reveals that her relationship with the mysterious Big Papa has ended. “I am single now. I just think [this business] took its toll on our relationship,” she said. “I grew and he could not grow with me.”
Meanwhile, Leakes is harnessing her newfound celebrity to star a mini empire that includes a book deal with Harper Collins and a line of handbags. She has also been in Los Angeles auditioning for films.
As for the reports that she was evicted from her home, Leakes dismissed them all with a laugh. “I don’t really give a [darn],” she says. “If [people] really think that I have been evicted from my home, what they really should do is take up a collection and help a sister out!”

Heath Ledger's family gathered at an Australian beach to remember the actor, who died a year ago and is now being honored with an Oscar nomination for The Dark Knight.
"We are still all nursing broken hearts," older sister Kate Ledger said Friday in Perth. "Like anyone who loses a family member, it has opened our eyes to the intense suffering and painful journey that is death."
Kate and two half-sisters, Ashleigh Bell and Olivia Ledger, stood under clear blue skies at the Indiana Tea Room on Cottesloe Beach, one of Ledger's favorite spots and the site of his wake after his funeral. Ledger's father, Kim, and mother, Sally Bell, were also in attendance but did not speak to the media.
Ledger, 28, died of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs. He left behind his 3-year-old daughter, Matilda, with actress Michelle Williams.
"Michelle is doing an amazing job with 'our girl' and together we will cherish every moment of her steps through life," Kate Ledger said.
The actor's younger sister, Ashleigh, acknowledged his Oscar nomination Thursday for his wicked portrayal of the Joker in The Dark Knight, noting that "in Heath's words, he had 'the time of his life.'"
"Although we would love to have him here with us, we are so proud and so excited on his behalf," Ashleigh said. "We will take this opportunity today to honor his wonderful life and take comfort in knowing Heath will continue to touch future generations through this amazing art form."
She added: "What an unbelievable legacy he has left for Matilda and our family."
The family enjoyed a commemorative lunch in the Indiana Tea Room after speaking with the media.

Alonzo Mourning Hangs up His Sneaker for Good and Retires
0 comments Posted by J.R. Taylor at 3:41 AM
Alonzo Mourning hasn't played for the Miami Heat in almost a year. He's been rehabbing a bum knee for the last 12 months while supporting his team mates from the sidelines. But now, Zo has decided to move on with his life and let go of his NBA career by announcing his retirement.
''After 16 years, I feel it's best that I retire from the game of basketball,'' Mourning said during a news conference at AmericanAirlines Arena according to the Miami Herald. ``When you've got something you love and you're passionate about, it's hard to let that go. It truly is. It's not a sad day, but it's a day to celebrate. At 38, I feel like I've physically done all I can for this game. God knows it's been an amazing ride. He's blessed me with some amazing years.''
Although Mourning has a championship ring with the Miami Heat, a gold medal from the 2000 Olympics, is a seven-time All-Star, and was twice named NBA defensive player of the year, that's probably not what he'll be remembered for the most. In November 2003, Mourning retired from the NBA because of complications from his life threatening kidney disease - focal segmental glomerular sclerosis. He got a kidney transplant and tried to comeback with the New Jersey Nets and Toronto Raptors but they didn't want him. He signed with the Miami Heat in 2005 and started often in place of Shaquille O'Neal. He was a big piece of the Miami Heat team that won the championship in the 2005-06 NBA season.

A Good Look: Taraji P. Henson And Viola Davis Land Oscar Nominations
0 comments Posted by J.R. Taylor at 10:32 PM
Oscar nominations were announced this morning, and 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' landed the most with 13, including one for best picture and best actor. It will go up against the critics' darling 'Slumdog Millionaire,' which received 10 nominations, the Harvey Milk story 'Milk,' the political film 'Frost/ Nixon,' and the surprise nominee 'The Reader' with Kate Winslet.
Competing in the best supporting actress category will be Taraji P. Henson for 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' and Viola Davis for 'Doubt.' It's the first nomination for both actresses. Speaking on ABC's 'Good Morning America' shortly after the nominations were announced, Davis told Diane Sawyer, "I'm glad Oprah threw me a bone," when she learned Winfrey wanted to play her part but producers chose Henson instead. "I needed this job, Oprah."
Robert Downey, Jr. received a nomination for playing an actor disguised as a black man in the comedy 'Tropic Thunder.'
The most shocking snub for best picture was 'The Dark Knight,' which has already won numerous awards and was heavily favored. When the director, producers, and screenwriters are nominated by the Hollywood trade guilds but get no love from the Academy, where's the justice? As expected, Heath Ledger received a supporting actor nomination for 'The Dark Knight' on the one-year anniversary of his death.
The Academy only recognized three songs this year, two from 'Slumdog Millionaire.' Beyonce failed to grab a nomination for her work in 'Cadillac Records.' The same was true in 2006, when she wasn't nominated for 'Dreamgirls.'
The 81st annual Academy Awards will air on Feb. 22 at 8 p.m. EST (5 p.m. PST) and broadcast live on ABC.
