Oscar nominations were announced this morning, and 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' landed the most with 13, including one for best picture and best actor. It will go up against the critics' darling 'Slumdog Millionaire,' which received 10 nominations, the Harvey Milk story 'Milk,' the political film 'Frost/ Nixon,' and the surprise nominee 'The Reader' with Kate Winslet.

Competing in the best supporting actress category will be Taraji P. Henson for 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' and Viola Davis for 'Doubt.' It's the first nomination for both actresses. Speaking on ABC's 'Good Morning America' shortly after the nominations were announced, Davis told Diane Sawyer, "I'm glad Oprah threw me a bone," when she learned Winfrey wanted to play her part but producers chose Henson instead. "I needed this job, Oprah."

Robert Downey, Jr. received a nomination for playing an actor disguised as a black man in the comedy 'Tropic Thunder.'

The most shocking snub for best picture was 'The Dark Knight,' which has already won numerous awards and was heavily favored. When the director, producers, and screenwriters are nominated by the Hollywood trade guilds but get no love from the Academy, where's the justice? As expected, Heath Ledger received a supporting actor nomination for 'The Dark Knight' on the one-year anniversary of his death.

The Academy only recognized three songs this year, two from 'Slumdog Millionaire.' Beyonce failed to grab a nomination for her work in 'Cadillac Records.' The same was true in 2006, when she wasn't nominated for 'Dreamgirls.'

The 81st annual Academy Awards will air on Feb. 22 at 8 p.m. EST (5 p.m. PST) and broadcast live on ABC.
