Lindsay Lohan Will Face Jail Time If She Accepts Plea Deal
0 comments Posted by J.R. Taylor at 2:03 PM
Lindsay Lohan (Getty Images)Lindsay Lohan faced harsh words today in court, as the troubled star faced charges she stole a $2,000 necklace from a Los Angeles jewelry store.Judge Keith Schwartz announced that if Lohan accepts a pleas bargain -- which her attorney has stated she would like to do -- the deal will have to include time behind bars. "If you plead in front of me, if this case is resolved in front of me, you are going to go to jail. Period," said the judge.
He also had harsh words for Lohan, who appeared in court in a cleavage-baring top and high-waisted white pants, telling her directly: "There are things you need to understand. I've never met you, you've never met me outside of this court to my knowledge. I don't care that you're Lindsay Lohan."
Lohan is due back in court on March 10, where she will either accept the plea bargain, or choose to stand trial.

Rihanna is getting the Purple treatment. Prince and his New Power Generation band gave a special treat to concertgoers at Monday night’s gig at Oakland’s Oracle Arena. The music icon slipped a cover of Rihanna’s “Rude Boy” into his set, allowing the female singers to handle vocal duties with Sheila E. on the drums, but he took over at the end as everyone from fans to security guards boogied in the aisles. Watch Prince and company catch island fever.
Willow Smith rolled into her “Whip Your Skates Back and Forth” party at Fleetwood Roller Rink in Summit, Illinois, earlier this week. Clad in an aqua blue tracksuit, the pocket-sized pop star hosted a meet-and-greet with fans to discuss her “I Love Me” campaign, meant to encourage kids to love themselves and show respect for each other. After posing for pics, the “Whip My Hair” singer strapped on her skates and hit the rink. Roll with Willow below.

Cassie strips down to her bra and panties in a teaser for the ck one lifestyle collection. Directed by famed photographer Steven Meisel, the black-and-white clip evokes the controversial Calvin Klein commercials of the ’90s, with models, musicians, actors, and sports stars parading around in little clothing. The shaved-head hottie is seen fighting with a male co-star while Kelis’ “Caught Out There” plays in the background. Check out her sexy cameo below before the full campaign rolls out next month.
I guess someone heard me advising Cassie to go back to modeling since this "music thing" isn't working out the way she planned. Now if someone could tell Ciara to go and make some extra $ as well! Cause she could if she wanted too! #ImJustSaying #SayIt

Chris Brown (Getty Images)Chris Brown was sentenced to five years probation and six months of community service for assaulting Rihanna back in 2009, but he was told yesterday that his restraining order was being reduced to a level one. This means as long as Chris doesn't "harass, bother or molest" the 23-year-old beauty, they are able to interact with one another.
Last month, the singer's lawyer Mark Geragos asked Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia Snegg to lift the order following his successful completion of 52 weeks of domestic violence therapy, because it was becoming tough for Chris to attend music industry events.
He said: "It makes it difficult at awards shows and such."
While the judge did not immediately grant the request, she praised the hard work Chris had undertaken in order to reform his character.
She said: "Out of thousands of probationers, no one has done a better or more consistent job than you have, and I really want to commend you for taking responsibility and actually working diligently to complete all the things the court has required of you."

Given that Valentine’s Day was a week-and-a-half ago, Justin Bieber was a little late to be kissing on Ellen DeGeneres. But the Never Say Never teen dropped by to surprise Ellen’s audience—and plant one on her—anyway. The joke was that one viewer didn’t know whether or not to believe DeGeneres when she said she’ll appear in the upcoming theatrical re-release of JB’s movie, so the Rolling Stone cover guy walked out from backstage to verify Ellen’s claim. Watch below.
Best bits: the girl who is genuinely in tears at the sight of the Bieb (at the 1:10 mark), and Justin’s reply when Ellen begins raving about his new haircut: “I was inspired by yours.”
And then, of course, there’s the dancing in the aisles Taio Cruz’s “Dynamite”…

Admit it, Kim Kardashian fans: you did a double take the first time you saw Old Navy's "Super C-U-T-E" commercial.
The spot – the first in a new campaign, which replaces the clothing store's "Supermodelquins" ads – features a pop group called The Audio Threadz, who dance around on colorful sets that range from the breakfast table to the dentist's chair to a dog park to a supermarket.
The trio looks like a partially eaten version of the Black Eyed Peas but instead of Fergie, the lead female singer is a dead ringer for Kardashian.
"Old Navy Records. Original hits. Original styles" is the theme of the campaign, which will consist of five more ads appearing in coming weeks, followed by five or six more in the second half of the year, according to The New York Times.

When you get Lady Gaga as your spokesperson, you have to be prepared for things to get a little… weird. So we’re sure the fine people at MAC cosmetics gave a hearty “Sure!” when the “Born This Way” singer wanted to promote their Viva Glam products with an unsettling 2-minute abstract film featuring bedazzled skulls, a martini with something (or someone?) floating inside it, and tons of ghostly imagery. Behold the creepiest lipstick ad in history below the jump.

An ongoing custody battle with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry over their daughter Nahla isn't stopping Halle Berry from earning some positive attention.
The actress, 44, appeared upbeat when she accepted the Lacoste Spotlight Award at the Costume Designers Guild Awards on Tuesday night at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.
Introduced by pal Samuel L. Jackson, Berry gave an energetic acceptance speech full of laughs and smiles, following a montage that showcased the actress's versatility in a selection of various roles over the span of her career.
"Halle looked radiant and seemed giddy on stage," an onlooker tells our friends over @PEOPLE of Berry, clad in an Elie Saab gown. "She stuck completely on topic of the event and didn't mention anything about her personal life, but she had a happy aura. She even skipped away from the podium when her speech was done, and gave Samuel L. Jackson a big hug."
Although Berry seemed in good spirits, she kept a low profile throughout the night. Her beau Olivier Martinez did not attend and the actress stuck close to both her publicist and manager, who accompanied her.
When it came to press, Berry was the last celebrity to arrive on the red carpet. She was greeted by screaming photographers.
"Even as a veteran celebrity, she seemed overwhelmed by all of the madness surrounding her entrance," the onlooker says. "She posed for photos for several minutes before dashing inside to the cocktail hour."

Review Revue: Critics React To Britney Spears’ “Hold It Against Me” Video
0 comments Posted by J.R. Taylor at 4:28 PMFourteen teasers later, Britney Spears’ mega-hyped video for “Hold It Against Me”—the lead single off the pop songstress’ upcoming seventh LP Femme Fatale—finally exploded onto the pop culture scene last night with a strobing flash of lights and spattering of rainbow colors. The song itself already topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart last month. But judging by the way various critics around the Internet reacted to the Jonas Åkerlund-directed clip, it may take a few more views to grow on folks—if they’re willing to give Ms. Spears’ latest another chance at all. Read on!
* The vid kind of left Entertainment Weekly’s Music Mix feeling ho-hum: “The best part is undoubtedly the battle of Britney vs. Britney, in which our lady Crouching Tiger Hidden Fight Clubs her own self to the death (or narcolepsies? It’s a toss-up). Otherwise, she seems to spend a large portion of the video with the half-distracted air of a person who thinks they may have left the stove on at home.”

It’s a toss-up). Otherwise, she seems to spend a large portion of the video with the half-distracted air of a person who thinks they may have left the stove on at home.”
* Likewise, Australia’s Star Observer pointed out that the video is “bright, colorful and features men in underwear but the bizarre plot – which finds Britney fighting herself and floating above dancers in a giant wedding dress – doesn’t fit the song’s lyrics or tone.”* Rolling Stone plays it neutral and simply notes, “The video, which was directed by Jonas Åkerlund, is a mix of everything we’ve come to expect from Britney — sexy costumes, elaborate choreography, good-girl pouting and bad-girl strutting — pushed way over the top.”
* The Washington Post quipped, “In her latest video, Britney Spears arrives on earth — an alien, we presume — to spread the message of consumerism… Is she the first performer to push product? No. Think of the effect Run DMC had on Adidas back in the early ’80s. But she does seem to be breaking ground with undisguised, un-subtle in-video brand cameos. ”* E! Online was on a similar wavelength: “Perhaps not so weirdly these days, all the eye candy came with random close-ups of her signature fragrance, as well as Sony and Makeup for Ever products and the website PlentyOf Fish.com. (Oh yeah, Brit does some online dating in the video, too.) We were waiting for her to start chugging a Pepsi or, in keeping with the song’s message, whip out a pack of Trojans.”
* Throw Zap2it on the list of those not blown away by “Hold It Against Me”: “It’s fun — especially when things slow down and Brit enters stiletto’d mortal combat with herself — but we can’t help but want a little more (i.e. some sharper dance moves).”* A longtime Spears fan is sad to report the following on The Stir: “I know there will be hard-core Brit fans who disagree, but in terms of new dance hits, Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’ just hits a better beat.”
* Another mega-fan, The Prophet, found Brit’s latest clip—as well as the pop star’s lack of hitting the promo trail in support of her single—to be the last straw: “I don’t know what the cause is of Britney’s lethargic dancing, prolonged conservatorship, and severe lack of public exposure (to the point where she hasn’t said one word — I just need to reiterate that), but I know she’s not a lazy person, so to point the finger at her and blame her personally is a derogatory and negative manner is unfair.”* Finally, yours truly was just hoping for some good old-fashioned Britney charm—or even aone smile from the pop icon—on Chart Rigger. But I just ended up scratching my head: “This Britney Spears clip is like a great allegory, a Twisted Music Video Enigma that may never truly reveal its intricate secrets. Something tells me even Jigsawney didn’t know what the hell was going on while the cameras were rolling.”

Say It Cover It: Lady Gaga Talks Target, Grammys And Madonna For ‘Billboard’
0 comments Posted by J.R. Taylor at 4:19 PMBillboard sat down with 1000th Hot 100 chart-topper Lady Gaga — well, the Billboard interviewer sat, while Gaga probably hovered in her ridiculous footwear — to discuss a multitude of subjects, from her Grammy performance to the Madonna comparisons in regards to her single “Born This Way”, which she calls “the marijuana to the heroins of the album.” Jump below to hear the singer explain the conscious decision to make her single sound like the Material Girl, and discuss what she considers to be “the most dangerous thing that has happened” to the music industry. (And no, it’s not all of you little monsters who found less than legal ways of procuring “Born This Way”.)
In case you thought Gaga’s Grammy performance comprised of creepy pointed shoulder pads and just happy-go-lucky dancing, you are so off. Says Gaga: “The Grammy performance was about many things but ultimately the song ‘Born This Way’… is visually and thematically and lyrically about birthing a new race, birthing a race within the race of already existing cultures of humanity – that bears no prejudice and no judgment. The whole performance was a Gregorian Albin Ailey, had Martha Graham energy to it, and that was a statement in itself.”

She also gives some insight into why she was okay to team up with Target to release a special edition of her album, complete with three bonus studio cuts and remixes. (Many of her fans have raised eyebrows at this partnership, since Target had recently made headlines when they used corporate funds to support Tom Emmer, who ran for governor of Minnesota with an anti-gay campaign.)
“Part of my deal with Target is that they above to start affiliating themselves with LGBT charity groups and begin to reform and make amends for the mistakes they’ve made in the past… our relationship is hinged upon their reform in the company to support the gay community and to redeem the mistake they’ve made supporting those groups.”
Gaga’s real beef isn’t with Target — it’s with music producers. “I think in the music industry, something has happened where the producers have begun to think or believe – or the industry has begun to think or believe – that the producer makes the hits. This is the most dangerous thing that has happened to this business. Because it takes the credibility away from the singer and from the artist. It’s unfair to the artist.”
Regarding the critique that her single sounds curiously like Madonna’s “Express Yourself”, Gaga explains, “I think what people are hearing, to be precise, is the spirit of the early ’90s. It’s not just Madonna, it’s Whitney Houston, it’s En Vogue, it’s TLC. It was a ’90s-dance-early-gospel-fusion-with-pop-music, and that’s precisely what I intended for it to sound like.”
As far as the rest of the album, the “heroin”, there’s a song called “Marry The Night”, produced by Gaga and Fernando Garibay. Lyrics include, “I’m gonna marry the night, I won’t give up on my life. I’m a warrior queen… I’m gonna make love to the stars… I’m a soldier in my own emptiness. I’m a winner.”
Gaga was less forthcoming when asked about the “Born This Way” music video. “It looks completely different than everything I’ve ever done… it is the birth of a new race. Really deep stuff.”

High school wrestling star Joel Northrup had his eye on the Iowa state championship – until he found out he'd have to compete against a girl in the first round.
Northrup, a home-schooled sophomore whose record was 35-4 wrestling for Linn-Mar High School this season, handed Cedar Falls freshman Cassy Herkelman a win by default at the tournament Thursday.
"I have a tremendous amount of respect for Cassy and Megan and their accomplishments," Northrup said in a statement, referring also to Ottumwa sophomore Megan Black (the two girls are the first to make the state wrestling tournament in its 85-year history). "However, wrestling is a combat sport and it can get violent at times."
"As a matter of conscience and my faith I do not believe that it is appropriate for a boy to engage a girl in this manner," the statement continues. "It is unfortunate that I have been placed in a situation not seen in most other high school sports in Iowa."
While Cassy wasn't available for comment, her father, Bill Herkelman, tells the Associated Press that he respects Northrup's decision.
"It's nice to get the first win and have [Cassy] be on the way to the medal round," Bill Herkelman wrote in a text. "I sincerely respect the decision of the Northrup family especially since it was made on the biggest stage in wrestling. I have heard nothing but good things about the Northrup family and hope Joel does very well the remainder of the tourney."
Northrup's father, Jamie Northrup, is a minister in the independent Pentecostal church Believers in Grace Fellowship, which teaches that young men and women shouldn't touch in a "familiar way," said Bill Randles, the church's pastor, according to The AP.
"We believe in the elevation and respect of woman and we don't think that wrestling a woman is the right thing to do," Randles said. "Body slamming and takedowns, that full contact sport is not how to do that."
Though he gave up his shot at a championship, it's not over yet for Northrup. He was still eligible for the consolation rounds, and he won his first match later Thursday by major decision

Doctors believe they've solved the mystery of why veteran CBS 2 TV reporter Serene Branson slurred her words during a live Grammy telecast.
Despite various theories, including a stroke, Branson actually suffered from a "complex migraine," according to UCLA Medical Center's chief of neurosurgery Dr. Neil Martin, the Los Angeles Times reports.
This severe headache form can mimic strokes, with symptoms including weakness, loss of vision and difficulty speaking – but unlike with strokes, the effects of complex migraines are not long term.
Branson began speaking gibberish a few words into Sunday's telecast, which caused the station to cut away. By the next day, she was feeling better and told the station she hopes to be back on the air soon.

A look from the Marchesa Fall 2011 collection (Getty)Lovers of Marchesa's deeply romantic red carpet regalia will not be disappointed by Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman's Fall 2011 collection. The gowns shown at the pair's Center 548 presentation on Wednesday were typically dramatic, with no shortage of tulle, lace, feathers and embroidery. The most successful looks, however, were those that played on a vampish cue: sheer bodices featuring gothic black and red lace were darkly enticing. Voluminous ruffled collars are sure to make quite the statement for the Hollywood girl competing for a prime photo opp.
As always, Marchesa drew quite the celebrity following, with Michelle Trachtenberg, Vanessa Hudgens and rapper Eve making notable appearances.

'America's Next Top Model' Judge Nigel Barker Debuts Full Head of Hair

Nigel and wife Cristen (Getty)Attendees at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week this year may have had some trouble recognizing America's Next Top Model judge Nigel Barker. The popular television personality and noted fashion photographer seems to be going for a whole new look, having ditched the fake tanner and—wait for it—grown a full head of hair since last September.Barker has always been a handsome gent; He was, after all, a male model before he decided to try his hand behind the camera. We kind of liked his barely-there, basically bald head on the past umpteenth cycles of America's Next Top Model. It's a little strange to see him sporting so much up top, is it not? He kind of looks like a local news anchor.
