Doctors believe they've solved the mystery of why veteran CBS 2 TV reporter Serene Branson slurred her words during a live Grammy telecast.
Despite various theories, including a stroke, Branson actually suffered from a "complex migraine," according to UCLA Medical Center's chief of neurosurgery Dr. Neil Martin, the Los Angeles Times reports.
This severe headache form can mimic strokes, with symptoms including weakness, loss of vision and difficulty speaking – but unlike with strokes, the effects of complex migraines are not long term.
Branson began speaking gibberish a few words into Sunday's telecast, which caused the station to cut away. By the next day, she was feeling better and told the station she hopes to be back on the air soon.
