Beyonce Update!

The 31st Annual Kennedy Center Honors were held last night and Beyonce “Sasha Fierce” Knowles was on hand to pay tribute to singer Barbara Streisand. Speaking to the LATimes earlier this week, Beyonce said about Barbara what she had previously said about both Diana Ross and Tina Turner in the past: “Barbara Streisand, that’s the career model for me, I want to be just like her. She is the just the ultimate. And I want to be an icon too.” As many of you know Barabara Streisand is an accomplished singer, actress and Academy Award Winner. Beyonce has two of those things down pat and is working on the Oscar. She is getting great reviews for her role as Etta James in Cadillac Records, this however didn’t help the movie very much because it debuted at #9 at the box office- due mostly to it only being in limited release.

The movie earned an estimated 3.5 million dollars at 686 theaters across the country. No word yet as to why the film was released in so few theaters. The same was done to Dreamgirls- resulting in neither film having even a remote chance of coming in at #1.

Beyonce To Remake “A Star Is Born”

Diana Ross, Tina Turner, Etta James- Beyonce has found a way to attach herself to all of these legends over the past few years. Well now we can add a new name to that list: Barbara Streisand. According to reports, Beyonce has been signed to star in the remake of A Star Is Born- a film made popular by Streisand in the 1970s, Judy Garland in the 1950s and Janet Gaynor in the 1930s. Beyonce is the latest name to be attached to this movie, as Will Smith and Jennifer Lopez were also rumored to be remaking the film back in the early 2000s. If this news turns out to be true- it will be yet another film where Beyonce plays a singer. She is presently being seen in Cadillac Records playing Etta James and has also been confirmed to play Eartha Kitt is her upcoming biography.
