Since her divorce last fall, Christina Aguilera's life lessons – including her flubbing the lyrics to the National Anthem at the Super Bowl and an arrest last month for public intoxication – have played out rather publicly.
One high point, besides her new gig as a mentor to young singers on NBC's The Voice, involves her love life.
"You have a new boyfriend," Ellen DeGeneres asked Aguilera, for an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show airing Tuesday.
"There is someone very lovely in my life. Yes," answered Aguilera, referring to her boyfriend, film assistant Matt Rutler.
"That's all that matter's is that you're happy," said the host. "It's hard. Divorce is hard."
Aguilera, mother to 5-year-old son Max, whose dad is her ex-husband, music executive Jordan Bratman, acknowledged, "It definitely is hard."
"You deserve to have fun and date and stuff," said DeGeneres.
"Absolutely," Aguilera concurred.
Asked about the Super Bowl incident, Aguilera said, "That night I knew, I just made myself a Trivial Pursuit question ... 'In 2011, what female singer, ya know, flubbed the lyrics.' "
