While Janet Jackson honors her late brother at the VMAs in New York, more than 20 musical acts will remember the King of Pop in Austria later this month.
Chris Brown, Mary J. Blige, Akon, Natalie Cole, and Sister Sledge will be among the performers at a tribute to Michael Jackson to be held at the Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna on September 26, according to Billboard.
Jackson’s mother and children will travel overseas for the event, being called The Tribute, which was announced Tuesday by Jermaine Jackson and the show’s producer, Georg Kindel.
Among the songs on the set list are “Man in the Mirror,” “Billie Jean,” “Smooth Criminal,” and “Thriller.” The Tribute will feature the band from Jackson’s “This Is It” shows that were planned before his death. Jermaine Jackson will sing a virtual duet with his late brother and all the performers will join together for “We Are the World” and “Heal the World” during the finale.
Additional artists will be announced in the coming days. Half the tickets, priced between $91 and $745, have been sold.
