It’s a girl for American Idol alum Tamyra Gray and her husband, Sam Watters!
The singer delivered daughter Sienna Marie on Saturday, July 17.
“We are overjoyed with the arrival of our little lady,” Gray, 30, tells DIDNTINVITEME. “I’ve never known love to this capacity. She smiles already and it just stills my heart.”
The couple decided upon their little girl’s name in quite the unique manner.
“We didn’t actually pick her name — she did,” says the new mom.
“I know it sounds weird, but back in February I had a dream where she told me her name. I shared my dream with Sam and we decided we’d wait and see. It took us eight hours after her birth to name her and at the end, we went with her suggestion.”
The couple, who wed in Italy in 2006, decided to wait until delivery to find out the sex of their baby, and it was actually Gray who got to make the official call. “Sam delivered her — with the help of a midwife — but he forgot to look to see what she was,” recalls the singer. “So I actually was able to make the discovery and announce it.”
Earlier this year, Watters, 39, a music producer and former Color Me Badd member, said he had a feeling that the baby was a boy. When they welcomed a little girl, “I couldn’t believe it,” he told DIDNTINVITEME this week. “I was overjoyed though.”
The same goes for mom. “I instinctively knew it was a girl but I never shared my feelings with anyone,” says Gray, who has also appeared on episodes of Boston Public. “Of course, when my feelings were confirmed I was over the moon. I will now have someone to share in my love of fairies and tea.”
