Some fans waited hours for Lauryn Hill to emerge during her show at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg on Tuesday (Dec. 28). The New York Times captured video of Ms. Hill addressing the crowd after finally taking the stage around midnight.

“I spent my entire 20s sacrificing my life to give you love. So when I hear people complain, I don’t know what to tell you,” she told the audience, some of which booed her. “I personally know I’m worth the wait.”

Two fans held up signs that read “You Just Lost One” and “This Is Insulting,” but the Grammy-winning artist was not having it. “Don’t do that. That’s disrespectful,” she told them while motioning to the exit.

OK so I know you are a musical genius and all. Your album, Upon its release, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 422,624 copies in its first week was one of the best albums in History to be quite honest.  I must say you are making it hard for you true devoted fans to stick by your side! If you can't handle "The Fame" or don't wanna be a "Celebrity" QUIT ALL TOGETHER!  It's like any job, you show up to work late 2 hours, that azz is FIRED!  If it wasn't for your fans you would have NOTHING!!!! Please always remember that, and don't take them for granted.

Starr Andrews, a 9-year-old amateur figure skater, has taken Smith's hair-whipping routine and put it on ice.

In a video that has more than 80,000 hits on YouTube, Andrews pulls off some serious, Olympian-style footwork to a remix of Smith's 'Whip My Hair,' rocking a pair of Chuck Taylor skates and neon hair extensions.

LeAnn Rimes isn’t the only A-lister making news today with a mega-watt engagement ring. Reese Witherspoon‘s sparkler has just been revealed as well. A rep for the Oscar-winning actress confirms that Reese’s fiancé, Jim Toth, 40, proposed with a 4-carat Ashoka diamond stunner set on a pave diamond-and-platinum band, similar to the one pictured above. So how did Toth land on the special sparkler? “In the past year, the retro look in diamonds has been very popular,” says Eve Goldberg, co-owner of William Goldberg Diamond Corporation, which produced the custom-designed ring. “It’s a very elegant cut and it has an old feel to it.” As for the stunning center stone, the jeweler says that Ashoka stones are rare, with less than 10 percent of rough diamonds each year having the potential to be cut in this unique way, with 62 displayed facets and rounded corners to create a dazzling sparkle–just like Reese’s eyes when she saw her ring, no doubt.

Kanye West is keeping up with Kim Kardashian. The rapper was spotted outside a studio in Los Angeles on Tuesday (Dec. 28), reportedly where Kim was shooting a music video for her forthcoming single. According to TMZ, the “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star worked with Kanye on the closed set for the Hype Williams-directed clip.

“OMG u guys have no idea what I’m doing today! You are gonna DIE!!!!” tweeted Kim, later writing, “What should my alter ego name be?”

The socialite has been in and out of the studio recording her debut album with another hitmaker, The-Dream. No release date or record label has been announced for the project.

Meanwhile, Kanye was photographed with Kim’s mother Kris Jenner at the Lakers vs. Heat game on Christmas Day. He gave her a first listen to his joint album with Jay-Z, Watch the Throne. “Listening to NEW JayZ and Kanye West album with @kanyewest!!” she tweeted. “Doesn’t get any sweeeeeeeter!! He is AMAZING wait till you guys here! Out soon!”

It was very merry Christmas for Sir Elton John.

The singer, 62, and husband David Furnish, 48, welcomed son Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John on Dec. 25, John's rep confirms to our friends over @PEOPLE.

The 7 lb., 15 oz., baby was delivered via surrogate in California.

"We are overwhelmed with happiness and joy at this very special moment," the couple, who exchanged vows in a civil ceremony in 2005, said in a statement. "Zachary is healthy and doing really well, and we are very proud and happy parents."

Just last year, Furish told PEOPLE they were going to wait to start a family until John was ready to come off the road.

"We don't want to put the raising of children into the hands of nannies and housekeepers," said Furnish. "We want to be active parents. We have godchildren [and] kids that we support in Africa, so we're fine."

Soul songstress Teena Marie’s untimely passing caught everyone off guard. While fans and loved ones mourn her death, some of her industry peers, including Alicia Keys, Mary J. You can always count on your friends! Courteney Cox, who's currently separated from her husband David Arquette, reportedly spent Christmas Eve with her daughter Coco and their dear friend Jennifer Aniston.

She was spotted again on the beach, this time wearing a Missoni embroidered two-piece bikini (seen below in a similar colorway $500). Natalie Portman and choreographer Benjamin Millepied are engaged and expecting their first child, her reps confirm to DIDNTINVITME exclusively.

The couple met during the production of Black Swan. Portman's performance in the film has earned her nominations for a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award.


The actress, 29, will next be seen in the romantic comedy, No Strings Attached, costarring Ashton Kutcher.

This will be the first child for the actress who is due in 2011.

LeAnn Rimes is sporting some new bling today and she just confirmed the good news: She's engaged! Beau Eddie Cibrian popped the question over the weekend and we're not a bit surprised since engagement rumors have been floating around for months.

LeAnn and Eddie leave Polacheck's Jewelers ("Yes, they were engaged over the holidays and are very happy," her rep told People.com.

The couple presumably picked up the stunning engagement ring today, when LeAnn, Eddie, and the singer's parents were photographed leaving Polacheck's Jewlers in Calabasas, California.

It's a 5-carat oval diamond set in rose gold fleur-de-lis connected to the band, reports to a source. "The couple wanted an antique feel, but a new ring," the insider added. 

Apparently Eddie and LeAnn both had a hand in designing the ring, with the help of the country star's childhood friend Brent Polacheck.

Kanye West was in attendance for the big Christmas Day Los Angeles Lakers vs Miami Heat game at the Staples Center. He was seated courtside wearing his favorite vintage Alitalia Sport 550 Sunglasses and a fresh pair of white Balenciaga sneakers ($525). Do you like his look?

Teena Marie, a celebrated R&B singer-songwriter, was found dead Sunday at her California home, her manager said.

Born Mary Christine Brockert in Santa Monica, California, the 54-year-old artist famously paired with late funk legend Rick James and was nominated four times for a Grammy Award, according to her official website. Marie was found dead by her daughter after apparently dying in her sleep, manager Mike Gardner said. "Teena was a black voice trapped in a white body," said Cathy Hughes, founder of Radio One, a broadcasting company that targets African-American and urban listeners. "I would always tell her that she was one of the greatest vocalists of our time."
Among her songs were "Lovergirl," "Portuguese Love," "Ooo La La La," and "I'm a Sucker for Your Love."

While no cause of death has been released, the singer's publicist Lynn Jeter said that Marie suffered a grand mal seizure -- a neurological event, marked by loss of consciousness and violent muscle contractions, according to the Mayo Clinic -- a month ago.

"Luckily, someone was there," Jeter said of that seizure. "The ambulance took her to the hospital, and on the way she had another seizure."
The publicist said that she had a "great" conversation on Saturday with Marie, who told her that she was excited about heading to Atlanta to perform this week -- in what would have been her first performance since the seizure.

Marie sang under various record labels, including Motown, Epic, Stax Records and Cash Money Classics, since bursting on the scene as a 19-year-old, according to her website. Her last studio album, Congo Square, featured several collaborations.

Eddie Levert, founder of the vocal group The O'Jays, praised Marie as both a singer and mother.
"There are a lot of black people who swore by her and believed in her, as far as her music was concerned," he said. "She was a good mom, and to me, that is saying a lot.''

Tyler Perry is fighting fire with compassion.

The movie mogul, 41, is reaching out to an 88-year-old great-grandmother of seven, who lost everything when her house in Coweta County – just southwest of Atlanta – burned to the ground, reports Atlanta's WSB-TV.

The Atlanta-based filmmaker pledged to rent a house for Rosa Lee Ransby and her 4-year-old great-granddaughter for one year. Perry will also pay the utility bills, buy her furniture and build her a new home on the burned property.

The rental house is just doors down from Ransby's house – her home of 40 years, from which she escaped with her great-granddaughter on Tuesday when it caught on fire.

Coweta County firefighters began collecting donations, and Ransby was in her temporary new home on Thursday, just 48 hours after the fire.

"It's made my Christmas," Coweta Fire Chief Todd Moore says. "I've been doing this a long time – seen a lot of bad things come and go – but this is special."

Sean "Diddy" Combs was spotted with his family and friends in St. Barts on Thursday (December 23).

The music mogul and his boys, Quincy, 19, Justin, 17, and Christian, 12, raced on the beach and went rafting on a banana boat.

Also on vacation with him is Kim Porter, the mother of Christian as well as their twin daughters, D'Lila Star and Jessie James. The girls just celebrated their fourth birthday earlier this week.

Diddy also has another daughter named Chance, 4, who was nowhere in sight.
