On Sunday's Real Housewives of Atlanta, Phaedra Parks finally confronted the ladies – and called out Kim Zolciak especially – for comments they made throughout her pregnancy about her son and how far along she was before giving birth.
Sure, it was a tense scene in the spa but as Zolciak, who's expecting her own child with boyfriend Kroy Biermann, tells it, they seem to have put it all in the past.
Calling from Atlanta, the reality star shares an exciting upcoming project – her first book to be released by Farrah Gray Publishing – and dishes on her feelings about Phaedra now.
On the show, it looked like you weren't taking your music career so seriously as you prepped for your tour with Kandi. Were you working hard?
I definitely was, even though it doesn’t look that way. I had choreography [rehearsals] for days and days and days ... But I was so excited to open for Kandi and really experience a tour. I didn't know what to expect. I didn't really know what [a tour] takes and what is involved. And I didn't want to let Kandi down as well. [But] you're just seeing the fun parts of it. I goof off all the time. I just have fun.
Apart from your music career, you have a book coming out. What's it about?
I was actually going to do a hair and makeup on a budget book … but I get asked so many times out in public, "Kim, how did you get Big Poppa?" Everybody seems to think that [landing Big Poppa] so revolved around money, and I am like, you know, I really need to let these people know … It will be the farthest thing from giving relationship advice but, technically, I do know at the end of the day what it takes to have a partner that equals you.
Back to the drama on the show: what did you make of Dwight and Phaedra making comments about your nursing qualifications? And what did you think of her pregnancy?
I've never hung out with Dwight. I don't even know him. He just needs to fix his nose and keep it moving. I don't know why he feels the need to talk about me.
As far as Phaedra, I really didn't care about her pregnancy. I guess what bothers me is she just kind of insulted everybody's intelligence … Getting into all the comments and things I've said about it, [it's like], I want you guys to know I'm not stupid. I had to go through labor and delivery and clinicals when I was in school. And I had two children of my own. It was more or less that, not that I actually cared about the actual situation.
It seems like she was trying to keep the fact that she was nine months pregnant from her mother. Was that your take?
Honestly, I think that's terrible. If that is the case and that is the situation, she probably shouldn't have done a TV show because at the end of the day, you have people like us – Sheree, NeNe and I are pretty harsh – [who are] going to call you out on it. [But] the end of the day, her baby's healthy and he's beautiful.
What do you think of Phaedra
I actually really like her, believe it or not. She's a fantastic mother. She's actually really funny. She is cool. She's real cool, actually. I haven't spent a whole bunch of time with her … but she's a very nice, sweet person.
