He’s already have won over stars like Eve and Joy Bryant with his renegade fashions, and — as we reported two weeks ago — Alexander McQueen is ready to make the rest of America into fans with a new line for Target. In an interview with WWD, the designer dishes about his motivations behind the budget-friendly collection, McQ Alexander McQueen for Target, which will top out in price at $130 — a far cry from the thousands-high price tags of his usual clothing. His favorite challenge in doing a line with the retailer was in winning over an untapped audience. “Apart from the East and West Coasts, my company doesn’t have any visibility in the U.S.,” he says. “I always liked the idea of people in the Midwest wear my clothes. The idea of this upstart from London going to where people haven’t heard of me, I think that was interesting to me.” And, he adds, “I think it’s quite adventurous of Target.”
