Nicole Kidman is one of the many in Hollywood opening up their hearts and wallets to help the people of earthquake-stricken Haiti.
Nicole Kidman at the Hope for Haiti telethon last Friday. (Getty Images)The actress was one of five Hollywood stars to promise the Caribbean island $50,000-a-year over the next five years to help the people of Haiti rebuild their lives. Nicole’s ‘Nine’ co-starPenelope Cruz and her partner Javier Bardem – who are believed to be engaged – have committed to hand over the same large sum each.
The Bounty Hunter hunk Gerard Butler, James Bond star Daniel Craig and Milk actor Sean Penn matched the monetary donation and have also pledged $250,000 of their earnings to the Artists for Peace and Justice’s Haiti relief fund.
The donations were made during a fund-raising bash held by filmmaker Paul Haggis – who also founded the charity. Paul – who worked on Terminator Salvation, Quantum of Solace andCasino Royale - has pledged to spend every penny donated on emergency relief and on the purchase of much-needed medical supplies.
Since Haiti suffered two devastating earthquakes earlier this month, many of the world’s biggest stars have rallied around to help raise funds. Last week, Madonna, Beyonce Knowles and Tom Cruise joined George Clooney and other celebrities for a TV telethon appeal.

A bold look for a bold lady?Michelle Obama may have opted for a conservative burgundy Isaac Mizrahi dress for the State of the Union address on Wednesday evening, but that doesn't mean she doesn't have an appreciation for bolder looks.
The fashionable first lady attended an Alexandria, Virfinia community talk wearing an audacious pinstriped suit by Alexander McQueen. Mrs. O wore her usual elegant kitten heels - standard footwear for politicians' wives (just ask Carla Bruni-Sarkozy).
As interesting as this ensemble is, I'm not sold on the look. It may be a tad too loud for a YMCA gym talk - but what do you think?
Kesha does not want to be "haunted on."Things we know about Ke$ha: she brags about stealing alcohol, peeing in champagne bottles, and sporting homemade tattoos. She also occasionally feels like P. Diddy.
Oh, there's this: she thinks she's haunted. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the 22-year-old Nashville native admitted that she doesn't really live anywhere right now, as she's busy searching for a place that isn't haunted.
I don't have a house, but I'm looking for one. I just want to make sure it's not haunted. I'm not just saying this to try to sound crazy, like, "Oh, I'm such a crazy pop star, I'm haunted," but actually, almost every night I have some psycho dream of the same ghost, either in my face, strangling me, smacking me, shoving me, or just hanging out. Sometimes he's just there, scaring me, being an asshole. She went on to say that she first "got haunted on" in San Antonio, where she stayed at a "haunted whorehouse" (Editor's note: this San Antonian has never heard of such a landmark).
Wherever Ke$ha does settle, it's unlikely to be Los Angeles; the singer seems pretty disillusioned with Tinseltown. She said of her four years in the city, "I went there to accomplish something and live a part of my life out. I made it through, I made a record about it, but I'm so done. It's so gross. Then there was a morning when I woke up and said, 'All right, I need to get out of here, the soul-sucking has begun.'
It sounds like the "TiK ToK" singer may go Salinger on us, someday.

Rihanna said: "I am incredibly heartbroken that Jasmina has passed away. She was such a brave and special child. She showed more strength and spirit than many adults I have met. I feel blessed that I was able to have her in my life, and know that through her example she has saved many lives. She was truly an angel on earth."
Rihanna was devastated to learn Jasmina passed away this week (Dosomething.org)Jasmina was admitted to NYU Langone Medical Center on Monday after experiencing trouble breathing. Doctors diagnosed her with having pneumonia in both lungs and her condition quickly deteriorated.
Following her death, Jasmina’s mother posted a message on the Twitter page she had set up for her daughter. She wrote: "At 10:55 on January 27th, after a long battle, Jasmina lost her fight with leukemia. Thanks for all of your support."
After hearing about Jasmina's plight last February, Rihanna got involved with charity DKMS Americas to help find a compatible bone-marrow donor for her. She was joined in her cause by singer Kelly Rowland and New York Governor David Paterson, and they soon found a match before Jasmina had the surgery in June.

Kanye West Thinks Blogger Critics Don't Understand 'Modern Day Caste System'
0 comments Posted by J.R. Taylor at 12:17 PMKanye's fur: a cultural thing?Kanye West and Amber Rose toured Paris' couture fashion week in an array of interesting ensembles, from floor-length fur coats (both), velvet blazers (he), and giant gold Chanel slankets (she). One would think any person willing to step out in such finery would be immune to criticism, but it appears that is not the case: Kanye West wants you to understand that he is being a revolutionary and you just don't get it.
West posted yet another all-caps rant this week that includes the following excerpts:
I'M BRIEFLY SADDENED BY NEGATIVE COMMENTS, BUT I HAVE TO REMEMBER THOSE PEOPLE ARE SCARED, INCAPABLE OR JUST PLAIN IDIOTS. WE ARE THE F**KING ROCK STARS BABY.
IT'S FUNNY TO ME WHEN FASHION BLOGGERS DOWN OUR OUFITS AND THEN SUPER JOCK OUTLANDISH S**T ON THE RUNWAY BUT THEN THEY DRESS MAD PRUDE AND DON'T LIVE FASHION. WE LIVE IT MAN.
I CAN HEAR YOU SCREAMING 'COLOR INSIDE THE LINES!!!' WELL F**K YOUR COLORING BOOK, COLOR BY NUMBERS APPROACH TO LIFE.
SINCE BARACK IS PRESIDENT BLACKS DON'T LIKE FUR COATS, RED LEATHER, AND FRIED CHICKEN ANY MORE?! WHEN YOU TRULY UNDERSTAND CULTURAL SETTINGS, BOUNDARIES, AND OUR MODERN DAY CASTE SYSTEMS, THEN YOU CAN FEEL THE GLORY AND PAIN FROM THE DAYS OF KINGS IN AFRICA TO THE NEW KINGS OF THE MEDIA.

Beyoncé gets in the game with her own million-dollar commercial for LCD HDTV company VIZIO. The one-minute spot, directed by Oscar-nominated cinematographer Wally Pfister, will air during the fourth quarter of Super Bowl XLIV on February 7.
“It’s an honor for me to know that I’m going to be a part of the great commercials in 2010,” says Beyoncé. “It’s a little bit of pressure because they have genius commercials, so we have to make sure our commercial is really cool because all the guys will be watching.”

Grammy nominees Akon and Keri Hilson go in front of the lens to shoot the video for their charity single “Oh Africa” directed by Gil Green. The song will be available on Grammy Sunday with proceeds benefitting underprivileged African youth, including Akon’s Konfidence Foundation.
“The whole aura of it is so fun—the color, the painting, and the drums,” said Akon of the clip, which also debuts Sunday. “It brings out all the cultural parts of Africa you can ever think of and it doesn’t even seem like a video, it seems more like a work of art that just happens to be a video.”
