Back in 2004, Janet Jackson stunned the world when she had a wardrobe malfunction during the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show. But will.i.am, who is performing with his group the Black Eyed Peas at next month’s Super Bowl, isn’t planning on stirring up any controversy.

The BEP frontman explained to The New York Times that he was excluding their hit “My Humps” from their halftime performance, stating that its risqué lyrics simply wouldn’t fly. “We’re not playing that. It’s a club song. It’s like when I get around my mom, all my cuss words are deleted from my vocabulary. Automatically, they just leave. Super Bowl, yes, the words are not going to exist in my vocabulary,” he said.

Though will, Fergie, Taboo, and apl.de.ap most likely have their set list written in stone, that doesn’t mean it isn’t giving them the jitters. “We thought Oprah was big, but to perform at the Super Bowl where a lot of the greats have performed, I’m getting nervous this time around,” apl.de.ap told Rap-Up.com. “It’s a great opportunity because usually, the Super Bowl, they pick rock legends and stuff, so this time around you get a little different taste of different music genres.”

And as for the songs they will perform? They aren’t sweating it. “It’s just going to be Peas. Lots of energy and a lot of our songs you always hear at the sporting events. So at least in that way, we can tell what kind of music they like,” explained apl. “We’re going to utilize all the songs that they utilize from us, [like] ‘I Gotta Feeling.’ I don’t know, maybe flying over the scoreboard or something.”

Find out what the foursome have in store for their biggest gig yet when the Super Bowl XLV halftime show airs live from Arlington, Texas, on February 6.
