Raphael Saadiq does the time warp in the video for “Radio,” the lead single off his fifth studio album Stone Rollin’ (March 22). In the ’50s-inspired clip, the former Tony! Toni! Toné! member performs while partygoers get down in the club to the classically-styled jam, mashing it up with contemporary styles as a woman dressed in an angular dress made of mirrors circles the singer.
Stone Rollin’, the follow-up to 2008’s Grammy-nominated The Way I See It, is slated to have 10 tracks inspired by ’60s and ’70s soul with a contemporary flair and guest appearances from Robert Randolph, Little Dragon’s Yukimi Nagano, and Earth, Wind, & Fire’s Larry Dunn.
“Both the attraction and reaction to my music from my listeners is giving me all that I need to continue pushing the envelope and making music that wakes and rocks the soul of many,” said Saadiq of his latest. “It’s ready, I’m ready, and I know the world is ready. Let’s all go Stone Rollin’.”
