Were the E*Trade babies making fun of Lindsay Lohan? The starlet thinks so, and is suing the company for $100 million dollars because of it.
Are these babies making fun of Lindsey Lohan? (youtube.com)The stock portfolio management company, which has had a long-running series of ads in which talking babies dish about E*Trade's financial services, ran an ad during the Super Bowl this year, in which one baby -- named Lindsay -- is called a "milkaholic."
According to Lohan's attorney, Lindsay has the same one-name recognition of someone like Cher or Oprah. "Many celebrities are known by one name only, and E*Trade is using that knowledge to profit," says lawyer Stephanie Ovadia, speaking to the New York Post.
"They used the name Lindsay," continues Ovadia. "They're using her name as a parody of her life. Why didn't they use the name Susan? This is a subliminal message. Everybody's talking about it and saying it's Lindsay Lohan."
Now, we spend a lot of our time reading celebrity gossip, trying to figure out what everyone is talking about. And in the month since that Super Bowl ad aired, we've yet to hear anyone say the baby in the commerical was based on Lohan.
Meanwhile, the advertising agency who made the ad, Grey Group, said that Lindsay is just "a popular baby name that happened to be the name of someone on the account team." We'll see which party the judge believes.
You can see the ad in question below, and decide for yourself. Personally I looooove this commercial, and I never thought of Lindsay Lohan @ ALL!!!! She's nutz!
