"They are two workaholics who couldn't see each other enough," the source said. "Things happen."
Common was on the Ellen DeGeneres show just two weeks ago and said: "I definitely want to get married. I would love to get married and have kids." He added: "Serena and I have been close for about two years. It's been evolving."
A rep for Common had no comment about the situation, and Serena is in Paris where she's playing in the French Open. Hopefully the alleged split doesn't ruin her game.
