Gary Coleman (Getty Images)The actor Gary Coleman has passed away today at the age of 42. The actor's wife, Shannon Price, made the decision to remove Coleman from life support after he slipped into a coma.

Coleman had been rushed a Utah hospital yesterday afternoon after suffering from a head injury. He died of a intracranial hemorrhage.

"Mr. Coleman suffered an intracranial hemorrhage at his home in Utah on the evening of May 26, 2010. As of mid morning on May 27, Mr. Coleman was conscious and lucid, but by early afternoon that same day, Mr. Coleman was slipping in and out of consciousness and his condition worsened," said Janet Frank of Intermountain Healthcare, the hospital where Coleman passed away.

Coleman was surrounded by friends and family as he passed. The official time of death was 12:05 Mountain Standard Time. This was the third time Coleman had been hospitalized this year. He underwent heart surgery in January, and suffered a seizure on the set of The Insider in February.

Coleman was best known for his role as Arnold Jackson on the sitcom Diff'rent Strokes. Born with a congenital kidney disease that halted his early growth, Coleman maintained a small stature through much of his life.
