New York Fashion Week - Day 1

Paris has Karl; and Milan loves Miucci. New York has Marc, Donna, Diane, Ralph and more! Consider this your go-to for the best photos, runway reviews and fabulous features on New York Fashion Week!

BENSONI
Contrast was the name of the game at Bensoni. Bright yellow played next to hot pink, while pheasant-printed chiffon made nice with stripes. Heidi hair aside, the collection featured fun, lively summertime items for the more adventurous fashionista.

VENA CAVA
Vena Cava's distinct tailoring and geometric detailing continued to play out in their spring collection. In a neutral palette of navy, cream and black, clean-cut lines on flowy fabrics made for an overall relaxed feeling. Pops of bright orange, sky blue, and ditzy prints added a shot of life into the collection.

CHRISTIAN SIRIANO
Eye-catching shades of red, white, brown and electric blue made up the color palette at Christian Siriano. Sleek, sexy secretarial silhouettes dominated—with the occasional dramatic gown of course. Leather skirts, shorts, pants and capes were stamped and printed with snake skin, showing that clearly leather is here to stay for another season.

RUFFIAN
Ruffian's main palette consisted of black, gold, army green, white and cobalt blue with solids interspersed with giraffe and ikat print. A sleek, figure-grazing minimalist sillhouette was contrasted a sharp military theme, slicked back hair and minimalist makeup.

NICHOLAS K
Nicholas K's show was a clear reference to the early 90s and Marc Jacobs for Perry Ellis. The clothes were grunge exemplified with tons of plaid, army green, sweat pants and combat boots. A twist on the Alexander Wang side braid, except in a fishtail was the key hair look.

Elle and RISD
Elle mag partnered with the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) for a fashion show to display designs from students who could end up being fashion's future stars. Alexis Bledel attended to show her support.

PROJECT RUNWAY
The Project Runway finalists took their final creations to Lincoln Center in a final parade to decide who would be this season's winner. The designs ranged from starlet-staple frocks to more bohemian fare. It looks like the judges are going to have a hard time picking!
